We visited as part of London's Open House weekend, not normally open to the general public. One of the oldest City of London Livery companies, with a fascinating history and building. We really enjoyed the visit, and it was made better by the friendly, helpful volunteers "on duty". In our view the best of the Open House weekend events we attended.
Agatha Christie did one of their qualifications - probably where she got all her knowledge of poisons from
With reference to hiring the main hall. Absolutely delightful place, the ladies are a charm to interact with. The courtyard is so peaceful, one doesn't realise we're in London. The hall is aged and historical, wonderfully decorated with access to a small room and toilet and kitchen facilities.
One of the better livery houses - claims to be the oldest in the City. Lots of wood panelling and interesting collection of artefacts. Not generally open to the public but several events throughout the year and a number of rooms for hire. Usually on the Open House circuit if you want a visit. Worth a little homework to make the most of it.
Perfect facility for Friday Prayers - thank you Halls4Jummah. Also what a stunning place architecturally, I guess one of the places that makes London very unique and special.
Amazing historical place It’s not opened for public, but if someone ever had a chance to visit; it’s a great experience.
Stunning interior. An unexpected surprise on a narrow street that promises little. Open to the public only infrequently, including Open House.
Dating from just a few years after the great fire - one of London's most historic company halls, with a fascinating collection of apothecaries' jars, etc. Go there during the open house weekend in September.
Made an appointment for a tour, fabulous place. Public can visit the courtyard, but not the buildings.
Beautiful guild building - well worth a visit if you can get an invite
