The site on which Woodthorpe Hospital now stands has provided healthcare to the people of Nottingham since 1877 and is conveniently located towards the north of Nottingham city centre, with excellent on-site parking facilities and access to public transport nearby.

Today, we are a modern well-equipped hospital with 39 private bedrooms (all en-suite) and two operating theatres. Our consultants have a wide range of specialties, and are available to treat you whether you are referred by the NHS, have private medical insurance or choose to pay for your own healthcare.

Review written on behalf of family member: Attended the hospital yesterday for a minor procedure. I was nervous beforehand but all of the staff were very reassuring, kind and professional. Well organised, with no delays. Many thanks to Jean who went above and beyond his role to make sure I was okay. Thanks to everyone there.
had a NHS referred MRI scan and the MRI staff were the BEST ever! they were so friendly and kind :D especially the lady I saw this morning!! she was so nice even though I was scared! And the receptionist was also really friendly when I walked in as well!
Dr was fantastic, building was clean. Amazing staff... Apart from the receptionist on gynecology think called Lucy she was kind enough to other patients, but was rude, cold and snappy with me. Going for a vaginal examination is scary enough without having someone rolling their eyes and making you feel unwelcome.
I attended Woodthorpe Hospital on 19/11/22 for a minor hand operation on a day case basis. From my first step inside the Hospital I was greeted with a very warm welcome by the receptionist. I was shown to my room and from then on every single member of staff were so attentive and professional. My Consultant was Mr Kovacs who has actually operated on me on two previous occasions. He was absolutely wonderful yet again thank you. I cannot praise him enough because he is such a good Surgeon. One of my previous operations was also carried out at Woodthorpe Hospital in April 2021 and once again every member of staff were exceptional. One of the nurses called Julia actually went above & beyond to help me after my surgery. I was an NHS patient and I would not hesitate recommending this Hospital. My sincere thanks to all of you.
I had my second cataract surgery here this week. The staff were again wonderful from start to finish and I felt confident, reassured and cared for at all times. I can't thank Mr Zakieh and his whole team enough - I have my sight back and it's truly wonderful THANK YOU
Not a good experience. Referred through NHS for a day procedure. The room I waited in for over 4 hours had an awful smell in the shower/ toilet area. There were no towels in that room as promised on the information sheet. I was not impressed by or felt confident with some of the nursing staff. After my procedure which required general anaesthetic I was fitted with urinary catheter which was incorrectly and poorly fitted. I was then discharged only 2 hours after my operation when I didn't feel I was ready. Again the information given said 4 hours monitoring was necessary. Give me an NHS hospital anyday.
I never like to leave negative reviews but I feel like I have no choice. I was first seen at Woodthorpe hospital via NHS referral in December 2021. The Dr I saw was very dismissive and rushing me out of the door but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Fast forward to June 2022, I was scheduled in for my day case. On the day, the ward staff were great and very friendly. I sent them a card after my op to thank them. It did seem very disorganized, I have a diagnosed disorder that requires medication before surgery. The communication between Woodthorpe and my consultant was very poor. I had to arrange an urgent hospital prescription for my medication as Woodthorpe hadn't obtained it, not sure who's fault this was. Things went smoothly with my op, the anaesthetist was amazing. In recovery, the surgeon visited me when I was half conscious and told me the findings of my procedure. This was the last time I saw or heard from her. Since this I have contacted Woodthorpe who told me that this doctor does not see NHS patients anymore. I was never informed of this and never received any post operative follow up. Today I received a follow up phonecall 4 months later and was told the findings of my procedure. During this phonecall it was clear that the doctor hadn't read my history as he was suggesting the same things that I have tried over the past 15 years. I have already submitted a formal complaint many weeks ago but have not received any response. I hope I can finally start to get some help regarding this situation now it's on here for other people to see.
Went in for my small operation at Woodthorpe hospital where I found all the staff supportive and friendly. Thank you to Dr David Nunns for his good work and a thank you to all his team; nurses, receptionists etc who kept me informed throughout. Really happy with the service here, and I would recommend Dr D Nunns and Woodthorpe Hospital to others.
What a relief for a doctor Dr Karuppiah to actual take the time to listen to me and actually show genuine concern for my health and wants to help. After 2 years of being brushed off by other doctors and bad experience using private Nuffield service. Positive that with the help of woodthorpe and there doctors I will finally get the health care support I require. Hospital clean and modern. Staff welcoming and friendly. Minimal waiting time on arrival. Good communications/contact, am hoping it continues moving forward. But upon my first visit I can highly recommend.
Been referred here through the NHS for a minor op in July.. still waiting 5 months later. Thinking of being referred elsewhere if not heard anything in the new year. Chased up several times but told they had new gynae consultants starting as most of them had left, and are waiting to book appointments for them..
