Woodsmoor train station is a lovely station. Many trains pass through there. It is never a long wait for a train to Manchester Picadilly. EMR and TPE services pass through this station regularly. This station is also on a bustling freight route, with both GBRF and Freightliner locomotives passing through on the regular. The station is very quaint, with only two platforms and a ticket office that is open in the morning. The platform walls have lovely art, installed by Friends of Woodsmoor Station. WoFS are also campaigning for step free access on the Buxton platform, because at the moment only the Manchester platform has step free access. Overall, this is a very quaint station, with lovely surroundings and plenty of variety of rolling stock that you will see

Nice small station. Not too busy. Often unmanned between rush hours. Normally a great place to watch squirrels. They live in the trees around the station and it’s rare that I don’t see at least one when waiting for a train. So at least there is something there to keep you entertained while waiting.
