Not our first visit to this location but the only time we've left early. Last night's windy conditions left us with a sleepless night and we headed home. We were given a pitch far from anyone else in what seemed like an idyllic location overlooking the countryside. We didn't manage to cook very well as the wind circled around us. So all in all not a successful camping trip. The site itself is pleasant enough and has toilet and shower facilities. The farm shop stocks plenty of provisions for your stay. The cafe restaurant wasn't open last night as it has been in the past. There are stunning views over the valley but it's so much better in the sunshine.
Lovely campsite. They have an adults only quiet site, and about 4 other fields. Great views. Very close to Kings Arms pub in Wing Village, only 5 mins walk. Hot showers and clean toilets. Plenty of pot wash stations too. Amazing on-site shop with all sorts of good stuff, all great quality. It’s open till 5 but sometimes till 7. The owner works there and she is clearly very proud and passionate. Dogs strictly on leads, they insist and will ask people to leave if not, because the chickens roam free. Great walk to Lyndon or Manton across fields. I’m sure there are more walk but we ran out of time to explore. I like it.
Myself and my other half have just came back from an amazing 4 day weekend, camping on this site. We was unsure to go due to the few bad reviews but we thought why not, we thought the other way the site was brilliant. We was on the chicken field and that was a laugh, along with been pitched up next to 3 lovely families. The down side to the site is the pitch size, they could do with just been abit bigger. If you have children I recommend, the pricing for the nights were £27 including electricity. However, we had paid online for electricity but had to pay again for when we had arrived which really confused us. Yet again, i would recommend
Excellent campsite. Great facilities including clean showers and toilets. Staff were friendly and the on site bar and restaurant are very good. Sure shop is Brill, artisan food and drink available. One of the best campsites I've been to, hence 5* review.
Very nice setting in the wolds. Campsite was lacking in facilities for caravans and motorhomes nowhere to empty grey water and only one Elsan chemical toilet emptying point which was a small drain without the funnel. Confusion over the pitches and pitch numbering was common. Electric hook up cost more than nonelectric but you still have to buy £5 electric cards to receive electric. So you feel that you've paid twice. It's confusing to find a electric hook up post to plug into, because they do not correspond to the pitch you are on. If you are non- electric and in a tent this may be the site for you . Café is good quality food but expensive. Showers are basic but men's lack water pressure, resulting in a short spell of very hot water and then cold. Views are beautiful and hens looking for scraps of food add to that rural feeling. If you go here to holiday go none electric and just a couple of days.
Beautiful views over the rolling hills, lots of lovely big trees around the site. Pitches are well sized, but with little separation. Group booking through the website does not seem to work, though on site staff were able to swap pitches around to put our group together luckily it was off season and quiet enough. Toilets weren't overly clean and most lacked loo roll.
Lovely, rural campsite with fantastic views over Rutland. The kids had a fantastic time playing in the little woods and with the chickens the owners even gave them some bread to feed them! The facilities are basic, but the camp has a nice feel for a relaxed break away and good, natural fun for the kids.
Electricity points are overpriced, pre-pay, poorly located and some not working. Due to the prepay system, the power can turn off unannounced at any time - very annoying when it is needed for medical reasons. Otherwise quite nice and quite popular. Cafe looks nice and staff there are great. Overall: Die to the electricity issues: Not recommended. I won't be back.
Disappointing. Lovely views in a quiet area, not far from Rutland. We were with a group for 2 nights, stayed in the chicken field, the kids and I really enjoyed them being around but they were a nightmare at meal times. Pitches are very uneven, and not big enough for a large tent plus a car. Paid for an electric pitch, only to find we then had to buy an electric card on arrival. We arrived on a wednesday mid afternoon and left about 10 on Friday, during that time the facilities were not cleaned at all, bins were overflowing in ladies loos, toilet rolls not replaced, it was disgusting. I dread to think of the condition had it been busy. Shop looked nice but incredibly pricey. In its current condition I would not recommend, the issues raised would need to be addressed and facilities replaced entirely with decent ones.
The pitches are too close to each other and not well maintained. The toilet facilities are below expectations for any campsite in 2022, they are more akin to what I would have expected in the 1970's. The toilets are basically in rundown sheds no exaggeration. Luckily we had our own facilities in our van so used them instead. In my opinion the site fees are far too expensive as they are on a level with premium sites but with third world facilities. To cap it all you are charged extra for an electric hook-up pitch but still can't use any electric until you buy a meter card, which cost £5.00 and lasted 1 day. Our use of the electricity was not excessive which leads me to believe there is a substantial mark up on the price. The onsite café is clean and reasonably priced, however the cooked breakfast we ordered wasn't very impressive and the espresso coffee was undrinkable. The on-site shop was by far the most impressive part of the site, being well stocked and having a good varied selection of fresh and produce as well as the usual tined foods etc. The chemical toilet elsan disposal point has one directional signpost but is still difficult to find, we had to ask and when we did find it we almost walked past it, as it wasn't obvious. To sum up, disappointing, not to be recommended and we won't return.
