Definitely worth visiting to see some leisure cruisers and speed boats that were used on Windermere. Some have been restored and are displayed.nChildren are given an electronic handheld device to search out symbols to crack a code together with an answer sheet. There are also some interactive displays such as one where you must help to power a steam boat.nThey have the original Swallows and Amazons dinghy's.nWhilst at the museum I recommend taking a trip on one of the heritage boats charged separately, which run throughout the day and take you around part of Windermere.nThere is a cafe and ample parking.
As a local to the area - I absolutely love this spot!nThe cafe is just beautiful! You can sit inside or out and the view of the lake is one of the best. The smashed avocado on the brunch menu is 10/10 - you must try this!nI often attend the yoga class here on a Saturday morning and I come into the cafe afterwards for a coffee.nIt's a great museum for all ages and the shop is really quaint. The staff are always so friendly.nThere is a large car park - make sure to get your car voucher at the till when you get there and this will give you free parking.
Great place to visit, ticket valid for 1 year from date of purchase, so use as often as possible, free parking for 4 hours included.nPaid for a heritage boat ride for 30 mins, plenty of history incorporating quizzes for children.nStaff very helpful and informative and the boats captains were very entertaining.nWell stocked cafe for lunch/ snacks and drinks.
Cracking museum centered around the boats of Windermere over the years. Included a talk about how they go about restoring and conserving boats. Very interesting. Lots of information and gives a good insight into the history of Windermere.
Staff were really welcoming at the Museum and willing to answer any questions you have during your visit.nThe museum has a unique and interesting collection of jetty boats over the years that sailed the Windermere Lake.
