Old Street  £6.65 Guinness The Williams IV is situated at the end of a Georgian terrace, close to Wenlock Basin in the backstreets of Hoxton. The nearest Tube is Old Street, it’s a ten minute walk to get here. This pub was built in 1838 by the Wenlock Brewery, it later came under the stewardship of Charringtons. This pub has had a number of challenges over the years with several periods of closure. The pub reopened in August 2023 and I’m glad to say it is now on a firm footing. This is a traditional boozer that is set out over two floors. The main bar on the ground floor is bright and airy, has a bare boarded floor and rustic tables and chairs. The servery is unique due to its size and is three sided nature, it also has a low level island back bar. Around the walls are a collection of eclectic artworks and an old Guinness mirror. Upstairs are a further two rooms which are good for dining or a quiet pint away from the main bar. The beer selection was excellent and included a choice of bonafide continental lagers, a range of craft beers and a couple of cask ales for good measure. I decided on a pint of Guinness, my pint was great, price point was a little high. The food menu included elevated pub classics, a tasty assortment of snacks and fresh oysters. A Cheeseburger, Guinness onions and chips cost £15. I arrived just after 3pm on an overcast Saturday afternoon in March. The pub was fairly busy with a mix of locals and visitors to the area. There was a warm and laidback atmosphere which made settling in very easy. The service was top-notch, the team here are friendly and welcoming. The @william_iv_pub is a superb backstreet Hoxton local. This pub offers a great choice of beers and food, a traditional pub ambiance and has a friendly local pub feel. This was my second visit to this pub, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed both visits. ℹ Info correct on visiting 16.03.24
I called in while my wife was having eye surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Excellent range of beers and the bar has a good retro feel. Checked the menu, and wow! I haven't had oysters for 25 years, and the King Billy's are the very best and beautifully presented. I'm back on they oysters . The dishes I saw being served to other customers looked superb. Defo a big yes and thumbs up from me .
This place had a great revamp. Lovely local spot, full and buzzing most days!! Great ambience and vibes, gathers good crowds. As well as beer, they have a great selection of wines. Burgers were yummy and service was good. Definitely coming back! Vegetarian options: Moving mountains veggie burger
Don’t know why this pub doesn’t have 5 stars. The drinks are great. The music is not too loud. The service is great. The food is amazing. I’ve visited it at least 10 times and they are very consistent. On top of that it’s never crazy busy. The best pub in the area in my opinion.Food: 5/5
Lovely to see this place open again. Traditional corner pub at the end of a Georgian terraced street. Happy to see real ale 3 handpumps as well as a large selection of keg/craft and lagers. Good fridgeful of interesting looking cans and bottles also. Huge wine list and food served. See pics. Lovely staff and a great atmosphere with plenty of outside seating. Seems very popular even though only open for 2 weeks so far!
My local. I don’t manage to visit as often I would like to, but it’s a really nice pub. Very friendly people, fairly reasonable prices considering the location, nice room and decor. And the cheeseburger is pretty solid.Food: 4/5
One of our locals, glad this place is back open Great cocktails, meals, vibe & serviceFood: 5/5
This is my current favorite pub. It’s vibing but not packed, the staff are really friendly. The outdoor sitting is great in the summer and it’s just nice being there. The food has room for improvement, specially at that price but the burger is great : The rice pudding was spectacular.
Very nice staff helpful and friendly! There was no rating for food as I hadn't had any, but I can say Guinness was great! Nice Intimate pub with a good selection of music. I had a good time.
Wow! Always a good place for a pint of hophead but recently had a meal here and it was absolutely superb, as was the service. The vibe and the food are reminiscent of the epic Eagle on Farringdon Road. We’ll be back Food: 5/5
