Words can hardly capture my experience at Plates. Every dish was thoughtfully crafted to take you on a sensory journey, each element perfected. The flavours, textures, and presentation were sublime!! Kirk’s dedication is evident in every detail, from the mastery of each dish to the stunning atmosphere of the restaurant, with carefully chosen decor and tableware to enhance the experience. I’m truly blown away - Kirk is a magician in the kitchen! Everyone should experience his creations at Plates at least once, it’s an unforgettable treat and an experience beyond words!
Absolutely incredible vegan food at Plates! Loved watching Kirk and his journey on GBM and finally managed to snag a reservation for the counter seats at short notice. There isn’t anything I can say that hasn’t already been said but every single course was amazing and full of flavour. The bread was revolutionary. And the dessert was just outstanding and a perfect end to an amazing meal.
Fantastic restaurant with the most creative vegan menu I have ever tasted. Kirk and the team have put a huge amount of effort into creating a unique menu with delicious and interesting ingredients. Each dish was a journey for the taste buds, with so many great flavors that complemented one another. The ceramics made the experience even more special with each dish served on beautifully home made plates or bowls. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we loved the restaurants beautiful decor. It was cozy and not too noisy which was great for a night out with friends. We will be talking about Plates for a while and have already told our friends to visit. We will be back again soon! Vegetarian options: Food is vegan and vegetarian
You guys. It really is that good. One of those rare places that actually exceeds expectation. We can all appreciate a lovely restaurant, but this surpassed any of my previous experiences, offering attentive yet genuine service and unbeatable value for what you receive. I went during lunch service and sat at the 3-person counter. It does feel quite intimate as it’s a relatively small space, but the attention to detail is apparent as soon as you sit down, from the quality of the crockery and cutlery as well as the servers. Also the bathroom is gorgeous - felt very spa like I opted for the non-alcoholic drinks pairing as I’d never had one before and they really nailed it. It was nothing but genius and people are right when they say drinks and food can really compliment each other. It was 100% worth the wait having booked back in April. Felt so sad when it came to an end as I’m probably not going to have an experience like that for a while. It was a good reminder to treat yourself to things that you know will give you something to smile about and remember for a while. Thank you to the lovely team, especially Johnny I hope that’s the correct spelling who was so interesting and really easy to chat to.
What can I say about Plates London... every detail was well thought of and carefully curated, from the food and drinks to the decor and the colours. This all creates an experience before you've even started eating. I started with a non alcoholic drink, which was full of flavour, dry and not too sweet made bespoke, for my needs. Then the dishes started to come out, one after the other, each a work of art, the flavours, the textures, you could tell the thought, time and work behind each dish. This wasn't just a meal, this was a sensory experience. New found flavours which were delicious, paired with ingredientes which were innovatively prepared and cooked in different styles. I took my time with each one. This isn't a meal that you want to scoff up. You really want to take your time with it. Each fork, each bite is a new adventure. I would go back in a heartbeat. I can't wait to try out their new dishes and the Xmas menu!
Outstanding vegan restaurant with a delightful tasting menu that encompasses innovative dishes. I'm not vegan but found the food exceptional and well worth the effort, Kirk, who won Great British Menu 2024, has opened a little gem. All the dishes were a pleasure and I could easily have had a menu of just the desserts..they were fabulous. I'd definitely come again as soon as possible...Also for London and given the quality and inventiveness the price for the 8 course tasting menu was very reasonable.
Plates has been on our list of places to try since we watched Kirk on GBM. We were hooked on his story regarding his health and how he fixed it by going completely plant based with natural ingredients. He has been an inspiration for us when cooking and eating at home however I do not think my attempts will ever come close to what we ate today. Every course was incredible, the flavours mind blowing along with the ideas to put the ingredients together to create the dishes. It was so nice to go to a vegan restaurant that tried to do something completely different and not imitate meat/fish based dishes by just making them vegetarian/vegan. The whole team were welcoming even when we turned up 15 minutes early out of sheer excitement. The timing of each of the 8 courses coming out was perfect and we did not feel rushed at any point. It is impossible to pick a favourite course as each were equally incredible however the bread, lasagne and the dessert were the stand outs for us. Ignore the reviews where people have moaned that they basically didn't get something for free or 'discount' for a chair being knocked a couple of times. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, intimate, homely and we cannot wait to go back. Thank you Kirk and the team at Plates for a truly amazing experience! Vegetarian options: It is actually a plant based/vegan menu but incredible!
Great birthday present to myself. The whole experience was fabulous from start to finish. Genius food combinations, who thought you could combine tomatoes with frozen strawberry and ricotta or chewy beets with ice-cream. Everything was absolutely delicious and a feast for the eyes. A work of art both gastronomically and visually Food: 5/5
We were completely blown away by the food, it exceeded our expectations by far and I couldn’t possibly fault anything, the ambience was lovely and you can tell that they live and breathe their ethos. All the staff were super attentive, professional and friendly, chatting to all guests and genuinely wanting to make sure that everyone is enjoying the experience, it is clearly part of what they do and they do it very, very well. The somme is brilliant, she picked such wonderful pairings. Kirk himself found the time to serve several of the dishes and properly engage with the guests. The food is exceptional and we were blown away course, after course, after course. This is a very unique and wonderful place which will make any occasion a special occasion.
Amazing what you can produce without dairy, meat or fish when it is in a talented chefs hands. Kirk Haworth will receive a Michelin star I absolutely sure and it will be well deserved. I am not a vegetarian/vegan but will be going back when the menu changes for sure!Food: 5/5
