"We are a friendly, welcoming country pub in a traditional setting that offers great food, and a wide range of drinks. We always have three or four local ales on draught, a good choice of lagers and ciders and a selection of fantastic wines and spirits at reasonable prices. We also have a Gin list with over twenty different gins and a choice of 5 tonics. Our menu consists of a variety of delicious classic pub dishes, all homemade using locally sourced ingredients and an ever changing specials board using the best seasonal produce. Whether you are dining with us or just enjoying a pint by the fire reading the papers, we would love to see you."

Lovely little friendly pub. The staff were very accommodating. There is a good selection of ales and spirits. We came for Sunday roast and most had 3 courses. the whitebait starter was lovely and at least every meat roast was had by one of our party and there were clean plates all round despite the generous portion sizes!!. The vegetable wellington also went down very well and was praised by the vegetarian of the group! The sticky toffee pudding was amazing too and would highly recommend the pub to anyone looking to go for a Sunday roast. I thought the value for money against the food was worth it. They also allowed us to bring the dog in which was a big bonus !!
Came yesterday for the first time just on the off chance we could get a table, which we was able to. Staff were lovely and very accommodating and the pub itself is beautiful but we was very disappointed with the Sunday lunch. The cauliflower cheese was stone cold, potatoes were rock solid, pork was chewy and dry and the gravy was watery and didn’t taste of anything. Not sure if it was just a one off yesterday as all other reviews seem to be good for the food but it’s put us off coming back to try again.
After using this beautiful pub for almost a decade where we've had some lovely food. Today, for a special family get together, we went for the Sunday Roast. Regrettably our experience was extremely disappointing. The menu looked very exciting but the eating experience did not meet expectations. The prawn cocktail was bland, uninspiring with the small prawns lying in water on a hot plate. The turkey roast was sitting cold on a cold plate served with bullet hard potatoes and uncooked vegetables. The gravy, always the highlight to a roast ..... oh dear coloured water is polite. Bland, tepid food which was so disappointing. Very embarrassing when we had said the food here is amazing! Maybe an off day chef, but an expensive one for us!!!
We stopped on our way back to Chapel Pod where we stayed for the week end. Lovely place to stop for a drink. Unfortunately we couldn’t have diner as they were fully booked. Menu does look good though! We stopped to get keep warm by a fire but unfortunately they were not blazing hot.
We just popped in for a quick pint, and we found a nice welcome from the lady behind the bar. We wanted to sit and look at the incredible view down the Tamar and we were shown to a nice table that had exactly that. Just a drive by visit this time, but we will definitely be back again.
The experience left a lot to be desired. The service was fairly quick and the food came out hot. But it was fairly bland, all three of us were needing to add salt. Especially to the mac and cheese. When one of us mentioned to the waitress that the dessert seemed different to what was expected, she argued with us about it. So we all left feeling a bit naff. Don't plan to come back, especially as there are many more pubs in the area to choose from.
Lovely friendly pub with a good choice of ales. Food menu had a great selection of quality locally sourced produce with good portion sizes. Will definitely be going back next time I'm in the area.
Expensive and not worth what it costs. Cozy place with friendly staff and great views in the daytime but £6 for 15 spoonfulls of very tasty soup is taking the wotsit. Also slow. 4 tables, 13 covers, 3 waitresses, took 15 minutes to serve the small amount of soup but over 45 minutes to serve our main. Table next to us had obviously been here before because they brought a pack of cards!
Disgusting meal and service here.we booked up for an early lunch at 12.45.they only opened at 12.00 we were shoved out in the freezing cold conservatory and we asked to be seated in the pub/restaurant.no we are full we were told yet the place was almost empty and no table reserved notices were out.the meal eventually came out and it was pathetic.! Cold veg and cauliflower cheese the meat was cold and curled up at the edges the gravy was tasteless and as thin as water.the roast potatoes were new potatoes and quite frankly just as inedible as the rest of the meal. To add insult to injury another couple that hadn't booked came in and asked for a table and were told by the waiter, I think we're full but I will check.when he came back he said yes we have room round the side bar.! Is it a case of if your face fits in this establishment? Neither of us are our meals and after chatting with the couple next to us who said their meals were just as disgusting we decided to complain to the manager who didn't seem at all surprised by what we told her.we weren't charged for the meals just the two drinks which I think should of been on the house.! We won't ever go back here and I don't recommend it whatsoever.
Had Christmas Dinner here and as always the food was beautiful. Really well presented and absolutely delicious a real treat for Christmas day. Definitely do it again .
