Not my sort of pub but we went to a function and they catered for it very well. The food was really good. I had to clear the tables and hot stain area to make our guests more comfortable but it was Sunday caverybin main bar, so i suppose they were busy.
Went, with family, for the Sunday carvery, for the first time at the Ploughboy, Saltash. The meal was excellent! It was busy, but the pub was large and spacious so there was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their meals in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. First class experience, many thanks to all the staff!
AVOID! Not even worth 1 star! Terrible place. Very run down and old fashioned. Awful service and not very clean. Toilets are gross and literally feel like your sitting on a metal bucket. I recommend saving yourself time and money and book somewhere else. Witherspoon is much better in my opinion.
Not really worth one star. Food was terrible, chips must have been fried in old old oil. Atmosphere nil out of 10. Must be working hard to maintain such a poor standard.
Nice Sunday carvery. Easy to park. Two plate size/price options. Good selection of meats and various veg. Good atmosphere. Enjoyed our meal and drinks, but loos need attention.
The ploughboy is situated at the top of saltash in Cornwall close to A38. They have a good sized car park so that shouldn't be a problem. The outside of the pub looks quite nice. And at the back there's a fenced beer garden with frames for children to play in. Inside its quite nice with a lot of seating. There is a reasonable selection of drinks. Looks like an old style pub. They do food with a varied selection of pub grub. It's not an extensive menu so shouldn't boggle the mind in selecting. I had soup of the day which came out nice and hot and was very tasty. Then a chicken tikka with nan and popadom this was also hot and tasty. If I have a tiny gripe and is my thought only it could have done with a dip. The toilet area was quite clean not many places can boast that. All in all a good experience. Worth a visit.
The new management has certainly turned a new page in making this pub/restaurant very welcoming with the new staff and quality food. The food is served fresh within a reasonable time. The price of food ranges from about £5.95 for sandwiches and up to £19.95 for a mega mixed grill. They also have up to 4 different wines, too. The pub and restaurant is clean and tidy, good seating and outdoor parking.
Worst carvery I've ever had, everything stone cold, even the gravy! Felt robbed paying £7.95 for that. No veggie option which was probably a blessing in disguise given the quality of the rest if it. Looks a lot different to the photos they've posted on social media.
Nice little pub in Saltash. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Play area for children. Food served. Toilets and baby change available. We went on a monday at 12. Sat outside so the children could play. Took. While for anyone to come out and take our order. We ordered food and was told there was a short wait despite it being relatively quiet. That was fine. The food took over an hour to come out.. Was very well presented, great portion size and value for money. My only criticism is that the chicken was very dry all down one side on all 3 of the chicken burgers. And the first order came out and was finished before the last three meals came out.
The pub has a reasonable beer garden that younger kids can be entertained in. The staff are always friendly but the covid restrictions have made it hard for anyone to make a decision to go for dinner at short notice. Hopefully when more restrictions and fear of going out are lifted the pub will be able to offer evening meals even if on a reduced menu on a Sunday evening. The food is lovely if you do eat there.
