Great forest walks on path which can get muddy, the lake is beautiful. Car park what's full quite quickly. Not far from the cafe at the hunting lodge.

Open plain between Chingford and Buckhurst Hill. Part of Epping Forest. Used locally as a short cut between Chingford and Buckhurst Hill on foot although not made up apart from the one that follows the road but isn't a short cut. The Plain is used for walking. The forest proper commences at the edges of the plain. Grass is cut in the summer. Assorted butterflies can be spotted in the meadow during the summer plus the odd green woodpecker.

Big largely flat field, boarders Epping forest and close to Connaught water, lots of parking and easy access from Chingford station. Local shops and restaurants nearby. Large chain pub restaurant, snack bar and Queen Elizabeth's hunting lodge on top of the hill on Rangers road. Model aircraft can now only be flown by members of clubs.
