This is part of a longerwalk I do from the Kings Oak at High Beech. There are various routes you can take, I do about 5 miles each time. It is beautiful up there!
Connaught water is a beautiful lake and lovely to walk round. This however is a review of the car park. It's quite small but easy to park in the winter. Sadly though I didn't see the parking signs and was too eager to go for the walk and ended up with £100 parking ticket. it was only around £6 to park for the day and £150 to park for a year! So please go and enjoy the lake, but don't forget to pay!!
Park here at your own risk. The park/pond is lovely however parking here is not! I parked in the disabled bay with my disabled badge visible and did as was instructed on all signage email them your details and badge/plate number for free disabled parking I took pictures of everything just incase, time stamped how long I had been there. I even got an automated response saying they had my details and was all fine to park! Two weeks later I received an £80 fine saying I had not paid for this free disabled parking. It’s incredibly difficult to find someone to speak to about the charge as their number is an automated line. I eventually emailed and threatened to report them to POPLA if they did not immediately cancel this fraudulent PCN. seems to have worked however I received a sarcastic email stating they were cancelling due to ‘good will’ there is no good will in this situation! Awful company in my opinion.
We absolutely love coming here as a family. Beautiful nature and amazing views. A bit disappointed that now we have to pay to park. Been seeing elderly people coming and then leaving straight away due to not knowing how to use the app to pay for parking no cash or coin option. So sad that we can't even enjoy nature for free.
Beautiful, peaceful and surrounded by trees and plants. Great for picnics, strolls and wanders, with plenty of quiet spots to be away from everyone else, if you prefer. The area is well maintained and clean.nnThe car park is small and can get busy but it's right near the pond and is suitable for those with limited mobility. There are also a couple of designated disabled parking bays.
