I was expecting a shop to walk around in but that didn’t matter.The staff were brilliant, they answered questions and brought items out for me to look at and explained different aspects of the various tools etc. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and this was just before closing time with no hint of trying to hurry me. Will most definitely be using them again.
Have used this company for a while. Never had a problem. Always bent over backwards to help. Simon has been in the trade long enough to know his chosen profession inside out. Knowledgeable is an understatement. The showroom is growing every time I visit with a mass and range of machinery, power tools, hand tools, consumables, finishes and timber blanks. I have never dealt with this company before but have found them friendly and offering good service. I was in the market for a Kreg router lift which I was finding as rare as hens teeth and was lucky to find that Westcountry had one in stock the very last! I purchased the lift around mid afternoon and to my surprise was informed at the close of business had been dispatched. A bigger surprise was when it was delivered to my door at 10.30 am. the following day and thoroughly well packed. I am absolutely chuffed to bits with my purchase. Yesterday I ordered a wheel caster set for my Kreg table and arrived in good time. Based on the good customer care I received I recommend this company.
I've dealt with the guys several times now , always found their prices competitive . Simon is very helpful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them . Personally I'll be continuing buying from them .
I would never buy from Westcountry Machinery 4 Wood again! IN SHORT: Westcountry Machinery 4 Wood stock some fantastic branded products, however I urge you, click away NOW, buy them from someone else because customer service and customer care does not exist here! Their communications, when you get them, start with ‘I apologise…’ and end ‘Kind regards’ but in truth there is nothing remotely apologetic or kind about them. THE FULL STORY: Beguiled by a slightly cheaper price I purchased a Charnwood band saw from them, I wish I had read these reviews first, thankfully you are! The saw never worked properly from the outset and refused to track. Initially I was referred to the manufacturers who undertook some trouble shooting via WhatsApp. This didn’t work so they sent out an engineer for a site visit. The engineer couldn’t get the saw to track either concluding that both of the brand new blades I had with the saw were at fault. I have a lot of saw mill experience and I seriously doubted this conclusion. Never-the-less Westcountry Machinery 4 Wood sent out new blades for me to try. I obliged but the saw still wouldn't track. At this point, not-with-standing the pandemic, several months had passed and I needed a working saw for my business. I asked for a refund as the saw clearly wasn’t fit for purpose. Westcountry Machinery 4 Wood were utterly incredulous and pejorative toward me sighting ‘operator error’ as the problem! My request for a refund was turned down flat and I quote “The option of an unconditional full refund is not on offer.” So much for consumer rights! I was forced to accept another visit from the Charnwood engineer. This time he turned up with his own brand new blades. After two hours trying to track several new blades he finally agreed that the saw was faulty! Through gritted teeth Westcountry Machinery 4 Wood agreed to issue a refund but it cost me a day’s work and a 200 mile round-trip to return the saw. Clearly it wasn't operator error. Clearly they couldn't be bothered after all the trouble to at least collect the saw. Clearly I'm not surprised to have had no apology what-so-ever. Finally, I believe this retailer deserves no stars at all; however I have to give at least one in order to make the post.
I searched the web for a specific item I wanted, fearful that it would be out of stock with reputable stockists in these difficult times, as indeed it was with all but two. I chanced upon Westcountry machinery 4 wood who not only had the product, but in imperial instead of metric. Just what I wanted. I ordered Wednesday pm. A telephone call followed by a happy, polite, humorous operative. They delivered Thursday am, well packed. It doesn't come much better than that. Well done, and thank-you.
