Westbank is a community health and care charity in Devon. We provide care and promote health to people of all ages, in communities across Devon and beyond.

Story

Westbank is a health and wellbeing charity based in Exminster near Exeter. It caters for people of all ages, providing care and promoting health to local communities, across Devon and beyond. The charity has over 130 staff and over 400 volunteers. It works in partnership with a range of other organisations.

There are four main departments:

Operations and On Site Provision; Carer's Services; Volunteering and Community Links; Health and Wellbeing & Rehabilitation


Operations and on Site Care Provision -
Includes:

Services for Older People: Day Care Centre; Time for Life Mentoring Scheme; Social Groups

Children's Services - Family Time; Baby Group; Gym Club; After School & Holiday Club

Facilities & Central Services - Includes:

Meeting, Events and therapy rooms for hire; Catering; Community Café; Starcross Community Café and Charity Shop / Community hub

Carer's Services - Includes:

Devon Carer's - support for carers of all ages including young carers; Short Breaks for adult and young carers. Hospital discharge support for carers.

Volunteering and Community Links - Includes:

Westbank has over 400 volunteers and offer almost 30 types of volunteer opportunities; Voluntary Sector representation at Complex care Teams; Community Services development; Memory Cafes; Befriending and Community Support Service; Neighbourhood Friends; Patient Transport; Neighbourhood Health Watch; Social groups and activities for Older People; Community Allotment.

Health and Wellbeing and Rehabilitation - Includes:

Devon wide and regional initiatives that tackle health inequalities and priorities including: Falls Prevention; Long term conditions; Type 2 Diabetes: Adult and Child Weight Management; Cardiac Rehabilitation; Smoking Cessation; Mental Health; Healthier eating and increasing physical activity; Health Walks; Purpose built gym offering health and fitness for the general public and those with particular health conditions who have been referred by GP
