Story

Websters has reopened as the city’s newest theatre, formerly the Lansdowne Parish Church, an A-listed Gothic Revival church built by John Honeyman in 1863.

This is an exceptional building which is in need of a new life and restoration, It is now taking on a new role in the West End offering a theatre space seating 184 people,a community event space and a bar and bistro.

Websters is being developed thanks to a small loan from the Architectural Heritage Fund. Work started early in 2014 and continues creating its own momentum as other sources of funding support are found. This has included a grant offer from Glasgow City Heritage Trust to repair some of the external features. The building is a very prominent and beautiful Glasgow landmark.

The project is being promoted by FACT THREE a registered charity set up by the trustees responsible for Cottiers Theatre, previously Dowanhill Church, also in the West End, a project that has been hugely successful. Websters will be similar to Cottiers and the retention of the original church hall space will give it a very strong community focus.

Great venue. Refurbished church with outdoor eating area and beer garden. Theatre space for events also. In a beautiful area next to the river Kelvin on Great Western Road
Great local theatre. Staff and theatre cast friendly and welcoming. Well worth supporting them if you are able
Was a great old building with different bars and different entrances, went to see a gig and was a really chilled friendly atmosphere, the building itself is stunning, for a Saturday night the price of drinks wasn't too bad either, nice relaxed atmosphere and enjoyed my night there.
A great way to spend a Friday night. The show was great. The music and singing was top notch.
Went to see a production in the converted theatre and it was fantastic. The venue itself is lovely and the secession bar attached has a good selection of food and drink for pre-show nibbles.
Quaint little theatre. I have visited a couple of times and had a great time. Nice bar area that serves food too. No bar snacks which was a bit surprising and card only. Toilets were out of order on the day so large queue for the disabled toilets. Staff seemed to know there is a plumbing issue if taps are left on and could have communicated this better. Didn’t put me off and would absolutely return.
Great theatre, quite intimate with nice bar too.
Great concert. Strong sound quality. Intimate venue. Friendly staff.
Love this place! Large open real log fires, loads of nooks and crannies to explore from its previous use as a church. Great selection of beers and the food menu looks decent too. Websters is firmly pinned on our Saturday session route now. Dog friendly too
Saw Musicals, great singers, great choice of songs and great venue. Looking forward to Panto in December.
