It is a park of two areas, the open part that is mainly used for football pitches and the gardens which is enclosed. The enclosed area is quite beautiful but not that large. An ideal place to sit down and rest to idle the day away. The plants and shrubs are lovely and there area routes in and out of the middle section as well as a perimeter path. Quite a few dog patrons. Playground: It's ok,nothing special, but ideal for a neighbourhood park. The park has quite a lot of football pitches and that seems to be the theme. Restrooms: There aren't any!!!!! So beware of that! Dog-friendliness: Lots of dog walkers use it,there are two parts to the park. The open area and the enclosed flower garden area. Most dog walkers use the enclosed flower garden area. Most of them are courteous, but there are a few that have their animals off leads which causes a bit of chaos in an enclosed area. So pleased be aware of that! But generally it is clean and a very pleasant walk for you and your dog. Picnic area: None! As it is a local park and mainly used for football pitches. So bring your own stuff if you're planning to stay a while.
The Botanic Garden, despite its name, lacks the expected abundance of greenery and blooms. Instead, it offers a small playground, a football ground, and limited walking paths. However, the space is quaint and suitable for family outings and light exercise. The absence of ample seating post-stroll is notable. Playground: A small playground for kids. Dog-friendliness: Yes
A tranquil haven in an otherwise busy area. I live just across the road and sadly don’t have a garden so feel lucky to have this park on my doorstep. The meadow area is very peaceful and you can often find people relaxing on blankets on nice days. The walled gardens were looking a bit neglected but thankfully are now being maintained by a wonderful community team, ‘Friends of Wavertree Botanic Gardens’ who volunteer their time on weekends. The park has recently been allocated significant funding, likely as a result of the Littlewoods redevelopment happening next door. Hopefully this will be put to good use and improve the facilities for the local community to enjoy.
Wavertree Botanic Gardens is a mid-19th century public park located in Liverpool, England. Originally established as a private botanic garden, it was taken over by Liverpool Corporation in 1846 and expanded into a public park. Visitors often praise the gardens for their tranquility and the beautiful cherry blossoms that bloom in April, making it a perfect time for a visit2. The gardens are accessible from Edge Lane Station or by bus, and it’s recommended to bring a camera to capture the picturesque scenery. For those interested in exploring more of what Liverpool has to offer, there are various tours and experiences available. But in my recent experience I found this park a little out of shape as it was dirty, trees here and there overall it was not well maintained.
Nice place for playing football, out door events, picnics, dog friendly and also for relaxing.. they do not sell things here so be sure to carry anything you need, also there is a children park where the kids can play and have fun within Playground: It's a free open place where you could relax Dog-friendliness: You could bring your dog along for a dog walk or relaxation Picnic area: It's an open space that allows things like picnics
It's a very nice and wide park which looks stunning especially during the spring season with the cherry blossoms. The garden inside is also great for a run during the day as it has only opening hours.
Wavertree Botanic Gardens, nestled in the heart of Liverpool, is a serene retreat that transforms into a stunning display of cherry blossoms every spring. The garden, with its rich history and lush greenery, becomes a canvas for the delicate pink and white blossoms that attract visitors from near and far. As you stroll through the gardens during cherry blossom season, you'll be greeted by rows of trees in full bloom, their branches arching gracefully with blossoms that seem to float on the breeze. The atmosphere is one of tranquility, with a gentle hum of excitement from visitors capturing the perfect photo or simply enjoying the spectacle. The park offers a variety of pathways that weave through the cherry blossom trees, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty from different angles. The sight is particularly captivating in the early morning or late afternoon when the soft sunlight enhances the colors of the blossoms. Wavertree Botanic Gardens is not just about cherry blossoms; it also offers expansive lawns, a picturesque pond, and various sculptures, creating a harmonious blend of natural beauty and artistic elements. Families, couples, and individuals can all find something to appreciate in this tranquil setting. The cherry blossom season is a brief but memorable time at Wavertree Botanic Gardens, usually lasting a few weeks from late March to early April. Visitors are advised to check local forecasts to catch the blossoms at their peak, as weather conditions can affect their longevity. Overall, a visit to Wavertree Botanic Gardens during cherry blossom season is a must for anyone seeking a peaceful escape within the city, a romantic setting, or simply a chance to witness nature's fleeting but breathtaking beauty.
Good pitch, a bit soggy but good enough for some balling
Cherry blossoms . The best place to get pictures of Cherry blossoms
Didn't know this was there. Saw the trees form a heart shaped entrance so pulled over. Beautiful, wild place. Meadow flowers, bees, little paths that take you into wild woods. Not so great for disabled access in parts
