We were expecting a different style riverside cafe in Arundel but instead the inside seating area looked like it really needed an urgent makeover, very dated. It was great they had outdoor heaters to give their customers more comfortable dining experience in the cold days of February. But wished they decorated the interior area similar to outdoors with flower arrangement and better quality furniture. The food and drink was on the expensive side where sweet potato fries were more than £5. Was charged extra for non dairy and decaffeinated tea which other cafes don't. Parking: Need to park in pay and display parking
I have been coming here for years, whenever I find myself in Arundel for a dog walk. They do amazing large fish finger sandwiches, and their cheesy chips are unmatched! Reasonable prices for Arundel, and of course the location beats any of the more expensive cafes and restaurants in town. Very friendly owner and staff too - don't pay attention to any of the negative reviews! This is just good honest food big portions at reasonable prices, with a tranquil setting. My dog is always warmly welcomed too. Fully recommend!
Good range of good quality food on offer. Prices are very reasonable. Beautiful homemade scones and cakes. Staff are friendly and helpful. It can get very busy on sunny days, as the position by the river is really nice. Vegetarian options: Cafe offers vegetarian alternatives for breakfasts, sausages etc. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free scones and bread. Offer dairy alternatives such as oat, almond, and soya milk. Wheelchair accessibility: Cafe is flat, and wheelchairs can be easily accommodated.
Went down to Arundel today as it was such a nice sunny day. We parked in Mill Road car park, which was nearly full. Walking past the Waterside cafe we decided to have two all day breakfast's, a pot of tea and a coffee sitting by the river. Drinks arrived in ten minutes, food five minutes later. Food was lovely and hot, just what you need for a Sunday walking around Arundel Castle. Keep up the good work.
Great location with seats next to the river. Friendly service and home made cakes that unfortunately weren't too my taste, especially the carrot cake which has untraditional flavours. The cheesecake was also different though that was explained beforehand. Nice atmosphere especially in the sunshineFood: 2/5
I have been here before and was a wonderful experience but unfortunately this time something has gone wrong. After waiting over an hour for a toasted tea cake a bowl of chips and a sausage roll the carparking was running out and we had to leave, to then have the kitchen staff shout at us that 'were not a fast food restaurant' was disgraceful. I had already apologised and explained the parking was running out and I was sorry but I would have to cancel the food order and just pay for the drinks. Such a shame as it was not busy and didn't expect to be treated such a way, I would understand if it was busy but would never expect the rude behaviour of the staff.
Lovely place to stop and grab a rest by the river. Excellent welcome and really comfy outdoor seating. Great views. The food menu was extensive and the sarnies were excellent. The fish finger sarnie can be highly recommended with its thick white doorstep bread. Only slight criticism is the cost, appreciate its Arundel but still a little steep. That said, we’ll be going back.
Considering it was pouring with rain and so misty you could hardly see the castle this was a great trip out. The cafe was friendly, accommodating and the food good value and very tasty. I will be back.. hopefully in better weather.Food: 5/5
No problem parking with Mill Road car park immediately at the entrance with masses of space. Pay and display. Cafe very easy to spot due to the expansive painted sign and mural on the exterior park facing wall. Single door entrance with signage directing diners to take a seat and be waited on. To the left is a small narrowing area alongside the river bank. To the right is a much larger area fitted out with sofas, comfy and rattan chairs all under cover. There are also tables and chairs lining the riverbank. There is a single toilet cubicle at the end of the covered area. More seating is available in open air closer to a small stage area. A three piece band was playing on the day of our visit. Service was quickly provided as there were ample staff in attending. Drinks and meals arrived promptly. An extremely worthwhile stop with a unique view. Loved it.
Lovely view which is handy as you will be looking at it for a long long time waiting for your food to arrive. £14.50 for the worlds smallest chicken burger and 10-15 cold fries. Tiny cold jacket potato £10.50. Highly disappointing after an hour wait. Not sure how they achieved such a poor standard after an hours preparation. Avoid at all costs. Left hungrier than we we arrived.
