"Its not the sealife centre..." That was the first thing any member of staff said to myself, my wife, and our two children after over 15 mins of being in the shop. As an experienced keeper of rare aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates I was appalled. My four year is as passionate about the hobby as I am, and we have both been looking forward to adding a new addition to our collection for sometime. So passing WaterLife on Easter Monday we decided to pop in and see what was on offer. Our children, whilst clearly having fun, walked by our side the entire time, were courteous to other customers, and at no point broke any of the rules about 'touching the glass' pasted everywhere on patronising signs. Even so, the staff continued to be rude and judgemental. Simply because we came to the shop as a family and our children we're excited, did they assume that we were not interested in making a purchase? Further, the rudeness came to ahead when my wife tried to speak to the two members of staff behind the counter as we we about to leave ( my son and I chatted excitedly about what we might want to add to our collection next) - they ignored us all. Stock selection was OK, if a little pricey. Their reptile/invert section was below-average; overpriced tarantula and scorpions abounded in pots that were poorly labelled. Some were marked 'captive bred', should I therefore assume the others are wild caught? The lack of clear labelling on this point is enough to make ethical enthusiasts like myself look elsewhere. Presumably, I could have asked a member of staff, but the chap who was stood in the reptile section with us for about 10 mins didn't see like he was in a talking mood (except to say 'excuse me' as he left). Maybe, he too assumed we were another family who thought they were at 'the sealife centre'. Shall take my business elsewhere in future and suggest others do the same.

Walked into the shop, said something to one of the members of staff, he turned his back on me and ignored me with no reply. Every time we tried to speak to them the staff acted like they wanted nothing to do with us. Just because you are a small business staffed by family and friends doesn't mean you can treat customers like that. Good prices on aquatic plants but the quality at Maidenhead Aquatics is better. As for live stock they stock some stuff you can't find elsewhere like piranha, but there were some which had chunks bitten out of them and were in a tiny tank. All larger fish are in tanks too small and look unhappy. Staff were rude and unwelcoming. Our group left feeling horrible about the experience. Won't be going back, Maidenhead Aquatics is way better.

Staff are a bit off hand for some reason, almost bordering on rude. Good selection in the shop though , everything I needed and more at a decent price.
