Stayed here for work, comfy bed but wouldn’t recommend eating at the restaurant tho as waited 1 hour for a steak and burger for 2 of us bare in mind we were the only people in the restaurant… also, some numnut dragged a bag of glass bottles right outside my room after midnight and started tossing bottles into a bin.. this woke me up and probably some others too. Complete lack of respect for the guests staying.
The staff was lovely and helpful and the bed was extremely comfortable, but the walls are so insanely paper thin we were kept awake from the TV and conversations in the room next to ours. Not to mention anyone in the hallway - the floors creaked quite loudly and people talking in the hall sounded as if they were in the room with you. Location desperately needs soundproofing, as we weren’t able to sleep before an early departure.nnAdditionally, a fire alarm incident occurred where no staff appeared to let us know whether there was any actual danger or if we could return to our room. Safety-wise this was both disappointing and concerning.nnThe water in the bathroom takes ages to heat up 10-15 min continuous running before it isn’t ice cold and the plug sockets are all located very inconveniently no ability to plug a phone in anywhere near the bed/bedside table. All in all the price certainly doesn’t reflect the overall experience.
Strong smell of paint. Should use waterbased paint. Waited 45 minutes for food even though there was only 2 other people in restaurant. Waited 45 for breakfast. Beans tasted terrible, 1 half tomato, 1 sausage,2 bacon mushrooms and a seriously snooty pouched egg, which I changed to scrambled. My guest ordered pouched and got fried egg. This was then replaced. However the 2 other people not at our table asked for scrambled egg and funny he got fried egg. Probably the 1 that my guest sent back. £14 taken within 3 minutes of walking in for breakfast. I guess this is because nobody would pay for it. You only have 1 tea or coffee. Better off staying at the holiday inn up the road, for a little xtra.nThis place needs more than a smelly lick of paint. Outside rooms 31-39 looks like an American motel off the side of the carriageway charging an hourly rate. I'm sure you know what I mean.nThis place shouldn't be in Shepperton it's a complete let down. Shame on the owners.
If the walls were three times thicker, maybe the price would be worth it. As it stands, you can hear conversations in other rooms. You can hear the TV in other rooms. You can hear the floor creaking when people walk through the hallway.nnWhile I was out, the fire alarm went off and my partner had to stand outside in the cold and wet. No staff communicated anything to her, and no one checked on any of the guests. She just had to wait till the alarm stopped and then nervously re enter a room that may or may not be on fire. This negligence is not acceptable.nnA beautiful view over the river alone does not warrant luxury prices
When we arrived we had to pay up front before we were told where to locate our room. The room was a family room and was located up a set of outside stairs. There were two lights which were not working. The complimentary tray had only one packet of biscuits for the two of us. The only plug for plugging in the kettle was underneath the desk so the kettle was on the floor. Surely a safety hazard as it is a family room. When we visited the restaurant it was like the Marie Celeste with only one other diner. The following morning I had to defrost the stairs hand rail and at breakfast we decided to have a Continental selection. The cereal dispensers had thick dust on the tops! We made our selection of cereals only to discover that the milk in the jug was off!! When we complained we eventually got some fresh milk. We even had to swipe a card before we started breakfast. There was no offer of meat and cheese to go with the cereal and fresh fruit.nOverall we would not recommend this establishment.
