Cosy pub with a good selection of food and drinks, many of which representing the local cuisine. Their lamb is to die for unfortunately I missed taking a picture, and their venison burger was outstanding as well. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Pub grub was ok, but not as good as nearby Britannia or Three Shires. Good selection of real ales, perhaps served a little too cold. Dogs welcome. Pleasant and helpful staff.
Food was tasty and speedily received, only downside was no booking available so had to keep eye on tables emptying. Large Gammon steak hidden under perfectly cooked eggs & chips were beautiful, other half demolished his ribs -
Lovely old pub, loads of atmosphere, friendly staff and happy to accommodate smaller appetites. The Lamb Henry was too large for one of us so the kitchen very kindly divided into two very well presented plates.
Great location as we was staying in Chapel Stile . Friendly staff who were smiling and making you feel welcome especially Dave , Rachel, Christine and Tomas . Nice drinks and great food and would recommend to anyone. Reduced hours at present because of current situation and other pubs in the area are closed for couple of days a week or totally closed. Big thank you to Dave for being a great host.
Went back in October 2022 for lunch. Quality of dishes not like they used to be . Gammon steak was extremely fatty and the steak and ale pie was handmade, a proper pie with good meat but very small. Not worth the money pubs charge these days.. wouldn't go again.
Called in for food and a drink. Beer was nice and service from Bar Staff excellent. Food was mixed. We had a lamb burger which was OK, very good portion size. Other meal was Sausage and mash which was not good, sausage was very grisly.
Staff could not of been nicer, we came for a couple of days stay at langdale, my little niece was making friends with everyone and the staff were so lovely with her. Food was delicious, really nice atmosphere. Thanks so much x
Disappointing overpriced food. I'm always a bit suspicious when food lands in front of me super fast. I had the ribs which had little meat on them and an overpowering smokey bbq sauce. They looked like a pre packaged supermarket offering. Not good. My partner had the fish and chips but was unwell later on probably due to the excessive oily batter coating. Shame really as the pub itself is very nice and the staff super friendly.
Back again but with some more info and a pic of the menu! Food is honestly great, sorry there are no pics but I can definitely say the food is good!! Lovely warm fire and excellent atmosphere! Plenty of staff who are helpful and happy! Again I will return and return! Please note they don’t take cash!!
