Table service in a pub still feels strange to me but obviously necessary at the minute. Enjoyable hour here after our meal with pleasant masked staff! And good range of beers and spirits. Outside seating available
Great food and beer in a cosy, traditional pub setting. We were a little nervous about visiting a pub for food during the current pandemic, but were reassured by the safety measures in place here and the professional approach to distancing, masks etc. Recommend trying the goulash.

The waiting staff were amazing. They were clearly very busy, working really hard to look after everyone and keep things safe, and doing all this without showing the pressure they're under must be so hard. Food was great too and some nice ales. Thanks!
We were in Ambleside last week and spent a good amount of time in the Royal Oak. The service was excellent hats off to Sara, Aaron and Chris. We also had a couple of meals during the week and these too were delicious. Brilliant place all round.
Really nice relaxing pub despite covid restrictions, felt safe. Had the Hungarian goulash large can say it was one of the nicest meals I have ever eaten and a decent size.
Very busy little place. We enjoyed the Hungarian Goulash. It was very tasty.
Asked about food order after 25 mins to be told the order had gone missing, so had to reorder. Food arrived another 15 minutes after that. Staff were very polite though, their saving grace. Prices ok, food was ok.
