"A genuine free house near Cabot Circus in central Bristol. The Volunteer Tavern is a friendly traditional yet contemporary pub in Central Bristol. Tucked away by Cabot Circus the cosy one room pub has a cracking large garden enclosed by Grade II listed walls and dappled shade from overhanging London Plane trees. For the rare occasion when it rains here in Bristol ha! there are heated covered sections with tables.Dogs and Families Welcome!"

This is very local to us, so we do appreciate them for what they do. Of course staff are very kind. Garden/Nature views are extremely nice, and the little opens rooms with benches are great. They always do different kind of menus here, but at the moment they have an only Vegan Menu. I am definitely not vegan, but Won’t complain… the food was nice and has lots of options to choose from. One thing that could be done better is their Fries… if you are going to serve an only vegan menu please serve some proper nice and fresh fries… ours seemed to be the frozen chips you get from Tesco and throw them in the oven.
Lovely intimate venue, with limited but delicious food. There is a fair amount of seating indoors and a large outdoor area too. Splitting hairs, food took a while to arrive, but was delicious when it did. The katsu sauce was cold, but I'll forgive it as we had a large and complex order. Chicken, rice and chips were all hot and delicious. There are good options for non meat eaters too. This is a charming local pub, close to the city centre, and you won't be disappointed. The staff are lovely, so it's a worthy stop on your tour, and you can even get some food too.
A traditional pub near Cabot Circus. It has semi-open space and friendly staff, and is a perfect spot for hanging out with friends during weekends. Really liked the vibe here.
Great selection of beers and ciders with a nice covered outside seating area. Friendly staff, community oriented. The current kitchen Lonely Mouth is fantastic and produces some of the best Japanese Street food in Bristol.
Amazing place, so friendly & great vibe here. Staff very knowledgeable and the Sunday vegan roast is the best my partner & I have ever eaten. Seriously, everything was cooked to perfection we has 1 vegan nut roast & 1 vegan tart each & then shared, both were so good, when I return I still couldn't pick just one! Bravo chefs!!!
Lovely staff, good selection of local beers, decent music on the stereo had to ask at the bar what was playing cos I liked it. Lonely Mouth food was great, really good portion sizes, you wont go hungry and packs plenty of flavour. Will be back!!
We had Sunday roast beef it's clearly a popular place, but we got there early, so we managed to get maybe the only table that wasn't reserved. I would recommend booking a table for sunday lunch. The staff were friendly and I thought the food and drinks were reasonably priced and very tasty so no complaints from me.
Lovely little place. Great food and friendly staff
Loved the place! Great music being played Bonobo for the win, all the staff were super friendly, the food was tasty and they have a great selection of beers! Also, really cosy garden in the cold weather!
Best Sunday lunch in Bristol. Great and friendly atmosphere. On sunny days, you can also chill at the beer garden. The portion that is served at the Volunteer Tavern is absolutely huge. It will feed the most hungry people and it is absolutely delicious!
