Just a short stay with a family room , thoroughly enjoyed the room and experience at the Village Hotel. Made use of the swimming pool was great for the toddler 2 years and had a quick blast at the well equipped gym. We ate at the bar and all was good. Breakfast was what you would expect from a buffet style breakfast. Family room was spacious enough for a 2 year old to run about in without causing too much havoc which included a cot as well as a sofa bed if needed. Bed was nice and comfy. Great shower too! Nice lil break just what we needed
Regular gym/class user for the past 8+ years. Love the classes & instructors are great! Loads of different classes to choose from, gym very well equipped with the latest kit. Staff are pleasant especially Vanessa on reception who is lovely & always very helpful. Highly recommend everyone.
Booked a club room. Which was actually smaller than previous standard room. However SPA and Pool access was worth it. Rooms spotless beds comfy not much else necessary for my stay. Lack of plug sockets close to the bed was of minor inconvenience.
Car park is busy with people using the gym facilities, check in had terminals, all but one was working but staff were on hand to check in. Room was clean and tidy, personally the bed was a little hard and pillows too soft but that's just me, I don't like standing in the bath to have a shower, I always have the feeling I will slip, a shower mat may be good. Evening meal was fine and the food came very quickly, breakfast was ok - bacon had an unappetising colour and the mushrooms were not fried, just heated, apart from that it was fine. In summary it was a good hotel for this price point and I would visit again,
Can't fault this place. A fantastic, friendly welcome and well kitted-out, spacious room. The bar food was acceptable and the pricing OK. A little far out if you're visiting Newcastle City Centre £25 taxi ride but the free parking contributes to that! Rooms: Spacious and comfortable. Everything works! Food & drinks: Plentiful, fast and good value.
Big hotel with well equipped gym and pool with steam and sauna. A good choice if you will use these facilities. The room was fine but the food in the grill Italian restaurant has gone was poor. Pretty much just burgers. Gastropub prices but certainly not gastropub quality. Smallest burgers I have ever had and a tiny pot of coleslaw. Had a glass of red wine, also very ordinary. Had the world cup showing which was fine but had it competing with the muzak. One or the other, please.
Great english breaskfast. Great facilities with gym, pool and hot tub, steam and sauna included in the hotel. Hotel is in the middle of nowhere but the pool and gym is clean and well maintained. Rooms are quiet and clean. The rooms are not so modern. I would recommend and go there again.Rooms: 5/5
Wildly over-priced food for the quality. Went for a meal today and got the £16.50 cheese burger. For a start, that's very expensive so expected something wonderful but I was massively disappointed. 2 small patties that filled maybe half the bun, a small amount of cheese, and a few shreds of lettuce. Little to no sauce in the burger, although it did come with a small pot of salsa and coleslaw. I'd say it would have been overpriced if it was £8.
Starting off reception we’re kind and friendly on arrival, the rooms were slightly dark due to the colour scheme but very clean and tidy, I stayed because it was the wife and I wedding anniversary and in the room was swans made from towels and some complementary beer and wine which I thought was a lovely touch. Went down to use the sauna and steam room to which we were told we needed our own towels by an extremely nice lady on reception. The swimming area and facilities were excellent. Ordered evening meals and the food was quick and attentive…and this is we’re it all went down hill, whilst in the bar area and while a brilliant singer was trying to complete his set, a large traveler family were swearing, shouting, FaceTimeing their friends, their kids running feral, swearing, shouting, pulling things off tables etc. mess all over the floor, all over the table and the staff including the manager we’re out of their depth, instead of refusing to sell alcohol to an already elibriated group of people they continued to do so out of fear of confrontation. In a room full of couples trying to quietly enjoy their evening with wine etc we had complete chaos front and centre in front of the man trying to provide entertainment to the rest of the guests…completely ruined my stay at this otherwise nice hotel. A stronger manager and perhaps some hotel security would of solved this issue right away, according to others this went on well into the night after we had left at 10:45. Disappointing
Rooms are comfy and clean. Staff are lovely, friendly and attentive. But my goodness the food is dire. Appalling lack of choice especially for non-meat eaters. Needs pizza and pasta options and some sandwiches/baguettes. Breakfast also not good. Vegetarian sausages are vile: grey and undercooked. Poached eggs aren't drained before they're served. Mushrooms seem to be tinned. Such a shame.
