The people were great, rooms were normal and food in the menu was good. Staff went above and beyond for brilliant service and were very kind. The facilities were great and well worth staying at this hotel.
Only 1 star due to poor housekeeping. I stayed for 1 week for work. Housekeeping made the bed but didn't bother cleaning the room or toilet. I had to request a change of towels from reception. My bin was not emptied for a whole weeks stay even after i requested the room to be cleaned. Hotel is well located and has good facilities but I found maintenance poor. I paid over £100 p/n for my stay and feel somewhat robbed if I'm honest:'
Location is good with view to the river and Humber Bridge. Room allocated to us was spacious with all of the amenities provided such as cups, coffee/tea making facility, kettle, shampoo and towels provided. Big screen TV, comfortable bed and pillows along with fan provided. Very clean throughout. Free parking on site. Hotel is about 15 mins away from the town/university. There was an issue with the payment which was sorted promptly before I arrived so was pleased with the service.
The staff were so welcoming and kind. We loved the bar area and breakfast was lovely. The bed was so comfortable! We really enjoyed our stay and will be back again
Room was clean & tidy with everything you need. We went to a Friday night function with food & disco, the food was nice & the disco was ok. The aircon was on full blast we we got there & everyone was freezing, especially when we got the food. Then for some reason it was switched of when everyone was dancing? Surely it should of been the other way round? The bar staff & waiting staff were great & worked very hard. Definitely one of the nicer hotels in the area.
Nice and friendly management. Really helpful and professional. The room is nice and clean with a modern maritime touch. The coffee in the entry area is also a nice to have. Large parking area.
Rooms are very tatty, I asked for a double but they wouldn't switch. Price quoted was not the price charged. Rooms are cold do heat up in the middle of the night when it's too late, just a tiny little radiator under the window. Remote control does not seem to function in any logical order on the television. It's not easy I'm not even sure if it's the right remote for the TV. All this and an expensive price. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
The bedroom was nice but bathroom and lighting let it down. The lights were so dim it was very hard to see. I had to sit in the car to do makeup because even shining the bedside light in my face was dark and gloomy. The bathroom was big and spacious but the builders obviously had a laugh when fitting it. The loo roll holder was at shoulder height when you sit on the loo, digging in to your arm and the soap dispenser for the basin was really high up so to use it with wet hands you get water running down to your elbows. These things were relatively minor however there was no bathroom ventilation, the fan did not come on at any point. Couldn't find a separate switch and it wasn't automatic with the light. The bath was an odd shape, it wasn't flat at the bottom so when standing in the bath to have a shower, the bath was narrower than my size 7 feet if i stood sideways which was strange and uncomfortable. The shower pressure was very very low, unusable, until I found it had a limiter in the shower head. After showering with no extractor fan the mirrors were steamed up. I used the hair drier to clear them but I needn't have bothered as it was so dark. The bed was very comfy and the bedroom and bathroom were both clean. Strangely we found our phones wouldn't charge as if the electricity had been limited. So that was also odd. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the pool was excellent. The breakfast was a little poor for the money I thought but passable basic sausages and only one flavour of jam. I would probably stay again as at least it was clean, friendly, good overall value and an excellent location for us visiting family. I look forward to using the pool again.
If your unlucky enough to get a room on the 1st floor directly above the gym, be prepared to be woken up at 5.45am by the music and racket from that, it was like someone was having a rave. I was so angry about that as were 3 of my colleagues who also happened to have rooms on the same floor. Totally out of order to allow the gym to make that level of noise that time of the morning, the amount of breaks I had to take on my drive home through tiredness because of this turned a 4 hour drive into 6!!! What is also disappointing, is to read previous visitors have also complained and it has clearly not actioned a change, I will never stay at The Village again.
Location is good, decent facilities on entry, rooms are tired. No one has mentioned the swimming pool... the pool is the coldest I have been in my entire life, its cold when you come out of the shower which is normal but when you get into the water. Crickey blimey it is like getting into open water, it is freezing. So much so we visited Saturday and by Sunday night I had a cold and snotty, I think its connected to the swimming pool. When I got in I winced and one of the locals with her daughter said, “it’s always like this its freezing”. I understand there is a cost-of-living issue, but the pool should be closed if you cannot run it to a comfortable standard. We stay at these around the country with our daughter’s hobby allot and this is the worst I have come across so far, seems the bar area is updated at the front of house but behind not so.
