Pub managers welcome return to Roche
Regulars at the popular Victoria Inn are welcoming back some old faces as Steve and Louise Dawe return to take on the management of the historic coaching house on the old A30 on the outskirts of Roche.
Having first met when they worked at the pub many years ago, Steve and Louise have since worked together at a number of different and successful venues, gathering over 30 years of experience in the pub trade between them and getting married along the way.
Delighted to be picking up the reins at their favourite watering hole, Steve commented, “We are really excited to be back living in Roche and relishing the challenge of bringing the Victoria back into the local community. We love the old pub and returning with our two children we’re looking forward to settling down for the long term future. We are passionate about delivering great food and drink and can’t wait to pass on that passion to our staff and our guests."
The Victoria has been part of the award-winning St Austell Brewery estate of Westcountry pubs and hotels since 1943 and was recently taken on by established publicans Justin Barnett and Mark Holden.
As long-standing and much-loved landlords at another Vic - the Victoria in Threemilestone - Justin and Mark will be working closely with Steve and Louise to bring their successful combination of providing great pub grub and creating a beating heart for the local community to the Victoria at Roche.
Speaking of the challenge, Mark said, “Over the last few years we have put in a lot of our own hearts to make the Vic at Threemilestone the success story it is. Thanks to local people and organisations we have raised over £30,000 for charity and together we have created a special place for local people to come to. We know that Steve and Louise will be able do the same at Roche and they are looking forward to getting to know everyone there again and to putting the Victoria firmly back where it belongs as a real community pub.”
