We stayed here for a long weekend last week. The room was very nice and comfortable. The staff and client's of the pub made us so welcome. The food was really nice, beware the portion side's are quite big. When we arrived it was curry night. We decided we would have to try it. Lee the chef makes it all himself even down to the onion barges. It was very good but portion size was big, so be warned. We did not have Sunday dinner there but you could smell it cooking, it smelt nice and they had quite a lot for it. Yes it is a pub and we are above it, and they do have entertainment on but it did not bother us. It is on a road junction but the traffic noise did not disturb us. To be honest it is the first place that we slept really well the bed was so comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was brill nothing was too much trouble for the chef cooked to order and fresh and hot. I would recommend you to stay there if you could as it is very central to go anywhere in Cornwall. If we could give it a rating it would be 10 out of 10. Thanks for a lovely weekend Helen and Ray.

Excellent value for money. Great breakfast and can't wait to try more food options on the main menu just have to visit more often to try it all. Great atmosphere and entertainment. Friendly staff and great service.

Booked a room at short notice. Accommodation comfortable and quite spaciou, but had to ask for heating to be turned on as room was cold on arrival. However, that was at 10.30pm. Bar was lively with a fairly loud karaoke in full session. Missed breakfast (which looked and smelled good) as I had to leave before 8.00am, was pleasantly surprised to receive a 'packed lunch' with compliments in its place. Shame the sandwich, which was made with plenty of delicious ham, lacked any condiments or even a little butter on the rather dry bread. Nice thought though. In summary, a decent, budget stay within 5 miles or 10 minutes drive from St. Austell centre.

We travelled 6 hours from Doncaster to Cornwall for a family funeral and this is where we chose to stay and also where the wake was held. From the minute we arrived we felt welcome, staff were lovely. We ordered from the menu on the night we arrived and every dish that was ordered was absolutely gorgeous! Wide variety of drinks and the "riddler" went down a treat 😂 The room we had was room 5 a big one to sleep 4 of us and whilst it was basic it's all you needed. I must comment on how brilliant the mattresses are! Super comfy! Breakfast in the morning wasn't what we were used too (we love greasy spoons haha) but still very nice. The man I believe was called Damien,he was amazing (as they all were but he stood out) he even helped my husband put his tie on! He made it fun to be there given the circumstances. Even put up with our drunken behaviour haha. The buffet at the wake was fab. Presented beautifully. Anything we wanted, needed nothing was too much trouble well except a "riddler" at 1am haha! Whenever we come back to Cornwall and need somewhere to stay I will stay here. Central to most places convenient. Lovely atmosphere, great food, fantastic customer service. Thankyou again 😆
