A great place. A historic building in itself, a walk around the perimeter is very nearly as interesting as the contents. Paradise for me, because I saw some of my very favourite toys from my childhood on display there. This was closed on my last visit so I am withholding a 🌟 until I see them again. I withdraw another for the presence of the Bremer c*r, but will award this when the law that was current when it was on the road is restored. Given that the average speed of traffic is about walking pace, it makes sense to have a human with a red flag walking in front of each vehicle. Answers as to why it was repealed and the consequences of this action on a postcard please

Having been born & bred in Walthamstow but not lived there since 1976 I was visiting The William Morris Gallery but finding it closed my niece & I decided to go Vestry House Museum & we were so glad we did ! It's a fascinating place, with many exhibits & the history of my home town was so interesting. I had no idea that the museum started as a work house & was later a Police Station. We spent a happy hour looking at everything & reading about the history. There is a garden which in Spring must be lovely. I'll definitely be visiting again. The staff are very friendly, welcoming & knowledgeable.

Had a lovely browse around the Museum, first being greeted by a very welcoming and knowledgeable staff member and then were left to wander round as we wanted! Lovely if you want to absorb a little history from the area!

Excellent local museum. Walthamstow is the home of many firsts which can all be discovered at the Vestry House Museum - first powered car built in England, first powered flight took place on Walthamstow marshes, in Tudor times Walthamstow was a holiday destination! Come and have a look - fascinating!
