I really love Veg Hut. When I moved to E17 four years ago, it was an ok place to shop. Over the years they've consistently improved their offering, adding popular organic brands (Biona, etc.) The owners are a kind family who always treat their customers well, ensure you don't take home damaged veg, and really do things well! I can't always find exactly what I need, but in most cases I can.

This used to be a decent fruit and veg shop when it opened a few years ago, when the two young lads who founded the business used to run it. It was a pleasure to visit for the brilliant customer service and variety of unusual produce that you couldn't get elsewhere locally, like Kumato tomatoes; Romanesco cauliflowers and blood oranges, all at reasonable prices. Since being taken over circa 18 months ago, the place has gone downhill. I'm not sure who the new owners think they're catering to, but the prices have gone sky high and the diversity of their stock has suffered greatly as a result. The redesign of the shop is a truly inefficient use of the limited space available; moving the till by the front door leaves a tiny amount of room for putting your shopping away, as an example. Half or more of the shop's cubic footage has been converted to make room for a variety of Ecover refills and other overpriced organic products. I'm really not sure who buys this stuff, but I haven't been back since. You can't move for hipster couples with prams who talk waffle and get in your way, but I guess that's the sad truth of living in Walthamstow (known as 'Awesomestow' to mugs, charlatans and estate agents) in 2018. Perhaps they're trying to keep up with their pretentious new neighbours on Chingford Road or are trying to spark an organic food and detergent revolution? Whatever the case may be, the proprietors have failed and ruined what was once a great local business. The best fruit and veg shop in Walthamstow remains the peerless International Supermarket on the High Street. There are any number of pound a bowl stalls on the market which are worth a visit over Veg Hut.

Expired milk Bought some pensworth milk as early as the shop opened and I founded it very sour like a kefir ruined my coffee as well as I was sure it's a fresh milk so i didn't smell it or tasted it before poured it. I went back to the store but the lady didn't really do anything. You think you get quality if you pay a little more but no.

Big fan of this place. A nice selection of tasty veg along with loads of other quality brands of chilled & dry goods. My go to grocery shop.

Lots of fruit and veg, organic spices, pulses.. Also stocks some vegan cheese, fresh pasta etc. Would be good if they could get some more vegan things such as follow your heart veganaise, Coyo and Ombar chocolate!
