Great afternoon out!nAll the staff were super cheerful and helpful- I’m an amputee and not very mobile, but things were made easier with extra steps into the carriage.nThe hour-long trip each way through the beautiful Cambrian countryside is enhanced by the sights, sounds and smells of the steam engine. We were able to bring our dog along, too.nDefinitely recommend climbing aboard!
Brilliant day out. Both ends of the line are fascinating, with lots to see, and I think it may have the best views of any heritage line in Britain! Lots of parking at Aberystwyth, or a short walk from the mainline train station. Scenic views right from the start. Comfortable carriages including some that are open-sided for the full sensory experience. Lots of different locos in use when we visited. At Devils Bridge you can cross the actual bridge for free, it's only a short walk from the station. There's cafes and shops there too We paid the £2 to walk down under the bridges for a much better view and to feel the roar of the falls as they crash into the Devils Punchbowl. There are at least two well stocked shops at each end of the line, a coffee shop at Aberystwyth end, plus the new engine shed, with its funky wobbly floor, is full of fascinating exhibits. You can see the Rheidol falls from the train if you sit on the north side of the train.
Breathtaking views, comfy armchairs I'm so glad we went 1st class, and friendly staff and passengers. Thanks to everyone who helped my elderly mum and auntie. The carriage was really cosy, too. I would never tire of that little trip.
Lovely hour trip there and back on steam train to devil's bridge and back last train leaves devil's bridge at 4pm but we decided to get back on at 12.30 done the devil's punch which was amazing and spectacular. Dog friendly and you can use their car park to go into Aberystwyth centre. Did cost £35 per adult. It is immaculate at the centre
A fantastic day out for our family. We booked the first-class carriage and it did not disappoint! Friendly, knowledgeable staff, who were attentive to our autistic son and even let him have a photo on the steam engine. Beautiful scenery. Great museum tour and visit to the café. 10/10!
