We’re not train lovers like some, but We loved the experience..seeing the views from a different angle and where cars cannot go. We sat in open carriage, I recommend you take sunglasses to protect your eyes from debris and soot, we stopped at Devils Bridge, had choice of 2 later trains to comeback on. This gave us time to see the waterfalls and time for lunch
I had a lovely train ride from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge x. The scenery at the beginning of the journey was not very scenic. However, when a little further along was spectacular. It was quite expensive but worth it. The staff were polite and helpful and were really lovely x
This is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon! You can choose to sit in a closed carriage or the open ones as we did. The price isn't cheap but it's a three hour train journey intotal and you get to mooch around the museum you can gain access to the museum itself for just £5nThey day we went there was wonderful wind band playing a concert in the museum. The staff driving the train were super friendly too. All in all a wonderful adventure and kids will love it too!
We were disappointed by the poor views from the train they were often blocked by the trees and bushes growing along the tracks. We also the price was expensive. If you want to go to the Devil's Bridge, I would recommend driving . Or going up on 1 train and getting a later 1 back as 1 hour at the top isn't long enough to do the Devil's bridge
Myself, my husband, our daughter and a friend from out of town came for a visit today 26/5. It was a lovely experience! We took the later train, so we only had an hour at the other side. It was plenty of time to walk to the local pub for drinks and some lite bites/ starters, which were very good! When you exit the station in devils bridge, head left and follow the road straight to the pub. Less than 5 minute walk! The welsh countryside was absolutely beautiful on our trip to devils bridge and back. I’d imagine it would be even better for those who don’t live locally and don’t get regular views of the countryside. It was a bit of a rainy day, so we were pleased to have booked first class. It was very comfortable and an enclosed carriage with tables. Staff were kind, welcoming and helpful. They kept us well informed about coming an hour early to buy tickets and take some time to enjoy the museum. When purchasing the tickets they made sure to let us know the 4pm train was the last train back.nWe loved the authentic experience with the whistle blowing and seeing the steam/ experiencing the smell of it was part of the experience. It’s an hour each way. The train goes at a reasonable pace so it’s not incredibly slow, but slow enough that you can enjoy the surroundings.nnWe checked the prices online before going I recommend everyone do this with ANYWHERE you choose to go. That way you know what to expect to pay and can’t complain about it after the fact fortunately we received a carers discount. Make sure to mention this, if it happens to be your situation. All in all a lovely experience for an early birthday treat for our daughter! My husband says we should leave a 6* review if we could as he’s a train enthusiast and says this is the second best train he’s ever been on and THE best steam train he’s been on!
