Tasty Caribbean food. The staff at their Derby branch were friendly and helpful. We went there two days in a row, the second time to try their mutton which was good as well. They have happy hours after 9:30 pm and before 7 pm for cocktails. The Jamaican draft beer and their real pale ale were good.
We all love a good bottomless brunch! The decor, the atmosphere and the service was very good. The food really nice and flavourful! Cocktails we had were very nice and tasty : We had a great time at this turtle bay. The only downside and the reason for not giving a 5 star is that when lunch time trade picked up there were not enough staff to cover all the tables, and make sure that we had enough drinks. We did make an order on cocktails, and after 20 mins we chased it up but we still waited an additional 10 mins to get them. However, the staff were genuinely apologetic and their service recovery was great! Slow wait times is not a reflection on the staffs performance rather just not enough people in.
Shame that I cannot give “0” , because the service, the food and the experience were disappointing. Seek for a dinner after a long day at work and kids at school, we returned home hungry. Because we were served microwaved leftovers from valentines. Not to mention that the items we firstly order weren’t available and end up ordering inedible food. I suffer from allergies and that includes not eating reheated food, they put my life in danger, we have paid for food that we did not consumed and returned home hungry and angry. I am very disappointed with the service too because the waitress knew that we were going to complain about it so he decided to avoid our table. Please find the fotos bellow of how we have left our plates.
Lovely food with quick and friendly service. Predominantly Jamaican dishes with a few Trinidadian ones thrown in for good measure. Some dishes are a little Anglicised but are near enough to the original for anyone feeling a little nostalgic or homesick.
"Chef Collin's Mac & Cheese with Jerk Chicken £12.50 This is mac & cheese on another level – fiery scotch bonnet chilli, herbs and spices, creamy cheddar cheese, topped with jerk gravy. This is pure good-mood food." ....really? So disappointing, do you honestly think the meal matches the description? Took 50 minutes to arrive too. I don't think I've ever left less than a 5 star review on Google, but this honestly too the Mickey, such a lack of care from the kitchen.

Absolutely brilliant meal! Me and my partner came for brunch and we were delighted with every step of service from the get go. The door staff who greeted us were very welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere inside was upbeat and lively. Every staff member was happy and helpful. Very good food, especially the curry goat! We had a variety of colourful and tasty cocktails as there were so many to choose from! My personal favourite being the rum runner. Overall we had such a pleasant time and we will most definitely be returning very soon. Thank you to all of the staff for making our visit so enjoyable.
Sunday brunch and this place was getting filled pretty fast! Speaks of the craving for its food, which we found to be acceptable
The whole vibe was so disappointing, to be charged a service charge for 4 people when you take a newborn and a 5 year old ok but when you send under cooked jerk fries back to then still be charged didnt even mention the lack of sauce on the squid I have to say been going a while for a treat with the wife but that has put me off massively. Normally so friendly and helpful food was really off it today will upload the fries but I felt like no one gave a toss today and for a big bill felt like I a real disappointment.
Thank you so much Lily for a great night. The waitress was very patient and kind with my sister that does not speak English too well and had to make some adjustments to the items ordered because of her specific diet. She made our night very pleasant, and we felt very welcome and cared for, also has great taste in drinks!!! Thank you Lily and Turtle Bay Derby for a great experience. With love from Jo and Naďa
