Try not to if you can help it...  
I went in due to issues with a Web/Internet based Holiday I was trying to book.  Aside from the £25 Administration Fee they wished to charge to offer "the holiday at the same price" (how does that work, if there's an additional £25 on top?), the two members of staff I spoke with, both young girls, didn't seem to have a clue.  They were shy, quiet, unclear, hesitant, uncertain, and when I said I wasn't prepared to pay the fee, their only recourse was to try and frighten me by saying I would wait at least an hour on the phone, for the Head Office Telephone number for it to be done at same price.  
Needless to say, I walked straight out, went home, rang up, waited in a 15 second queue, got a lovely girl from Livingston called Leanne who knew her stuff, luckily for Thomson, and she sorted me out straight away at same price.  
Avoid the actual High Street Shops unless you really must.  And even then, once you have a holiday costed out for you, come away and check it's not cheaper on their website first...
