IQ Tufnell House was an amazing place to live and I thoroughly enjoyed this last year! I had a studio flat Studio Silver Plus and it looked exactly like the pictures and felt so homey. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the facilities considering it was a student accommodation. The area is so peaceful with lots of nearby parks and the Main Street of Tufnell Park has some great restaurants and the staff were so so friendly and very responsive. I had no issues at all throughout the year and staying here helped make my final year at university lovely.
We had read some mixed reviews about IQ accommodations but most of the Tufnell House reviews were mostly positive so we decided to go for it. Me and my fiancee booked the Gold Studio Plus D1 for a year so my review is based on this specific place. From day one we were pleasantly surprised because the online pictures did not match the actual place in a good way, the studio was basically a one bedroom flat just an open plan. Everything was brand new because I believe they had just renovated it floor, kitchen cabinets, sink, appliances, desk, chairs, wardrobe. We had space to set up a small two seat couch, with an end table, the two seat dining table, and even a mini bar and still had plenty of walking space. We thought we'd have a hard time fitting food for two on a mini fridge, but managed in a great way and rarely had any food go bad. There was plenty of space for fruits, veggies, and frozen meats. The bathroom is not great, but we decided to overlook it because the good outweighs the bad and it was just doable. Laundry is convenient, every now and then you'll have to wait for a machine, but just avoid Sunday nights and you should be fine. Gym is great and nice vending machine for a refreshment. There is a study space that we didn't know existed until almost time to leave but it is so beautiful and quiet. Super safe, secure, amazing flowers and garden decorations both outside and inside. Not a single problem with deliveries of any kind and quiet most of the time but we were right next to the rec room so probably got more noise than other buildings, still not an actual problem just a note. Now, the real treasure of IQ Tufnell is the staff. Front desk Malia and Jeremiah , security all of them great, maintenance our saviour Phill, cleaning, just everybody. Everyone was just so nice and helpful and great. We actually felt so comfortable asking questions and asking for any maintenance request because we were always welcomed and great service all and all. Price is okay I think, but we are international students on our first year at uni 23 and 25 so we took whatever said yes. The booking process was extremely smooth, don't remember a single issue with anything, absolutely anything. Overall, yes! If you are moving from another country to London to study, this is your place. If you want to be close to everything, yes. If you want to share space with your partner, yes. If you want to cook and have space for studying and doing whatever, yes. And if you want everything included on your payments so you don't have to worry about anything else, yes! Love IQ Tufnell, if I came to London for the first time again, I'd choose them!
I had a really good experience at IQ Tufnell house. The staff were all rlly helpful and understanding. When I moved in the room was thoroughly inspected to make sure that all amenities were working in good order, and repairs I needed throughout the stay were dealt really quickly. The bathroom is a bit small but the water pressure/hot water was really good so it hasn’t been a problem for me. Rooms are on the bigger side as far as student accommodation goes. The studio block is newly furbished. My room doesn’t face the park but the view is still very lovely. The area is pretty safe and chill and the building is pretty chill too. Gym is quite big and the study room that faces the park is pretty and I ended up using it quite a lot. Also shoutout to Anita, Dami, Jeremiah and the security and maintenance staff :
Worst accomodation. I had rats in my kitchen, my fridge was broken, and I had no hot water in my kitchen. The staff says they are going to fix the issues, but in over 1 year, nothing was fixed. The gates for the accomodation are always open even though there were attempts of robbery already on site. The common places are not clean. Wouldn’t reccomend. I had friends with bed frames broken, no bathroom doors, etc.
I am speaking from the bottom of my heart when I tell you please do not consider living here if you value having space and happiness in your home. This place is not one bit similar to how it is advertised in pictures. The common areas are not at all clean like ever. No exaggeration. Their gym is small and even the equipment is kept unclean. If you’re unlucky me I lived in building H and never ever had hot water running. I talked to management about it thrice and each time I was told repairs were going on. Even after the repairs ended, I had yet to get the right temperature of water it was only ever very cold and ended up getting incredibly hot. Never any middle ground. I spoke to management about it and they simply said that was peculiar. No action taken. The size of the shower is also incredibly tiny. The whole time I lived here I wondered how everyone showered because I always struggled. The toilet always got wet and so did the sink at times because there is no space to move and if you do use the shower curtain they give you—you’ll have no space to actually shower. The bed mattress was beyond uncomfortable and always hurt my back. And the bed creaked every single time you moved. And as a student, there was no way I was going to drop 300 pounds on a new mattress. To add to my misery, the kitchen is shared and my flatmates never ever kept it clean, making me never have the urge to cook and always having to eat out. The floors were always dirty covered in food and no one ever even came to out to communicate this annoyance except for me. But of course, none of my flat mates cared. For such an expensive price please for the love of god look elsewhere!!! Maybe another iq house but I wouldn’t even take the risk. I was soo depressed living here. And I am so glad I am gone!!! Only good thing about living here is a tube station 2 mins away & 2 convenience shops, a Sainsbury & some cute coffee shops to eat your pain away incase you didn’t take this review seriously enough and ended up choosing to live in this accommodation thank you pls listen to me. Maybe they refurbished it now but why would you want to take this risk when I am genuinely being an honest soul.
I haven’t had hot water for two months and haven’t been provided with any compensation or reasonable solution and it has remained unclear when the issue will be resolved. And the fire alarm goes off like every day. Update: my hot water was recently fixed. I didn’t have hot water for almost four months. I asked to get some money back and was told that’s not possible but when I asked them why they didn’t give an answer. I don’t recommend staying here. Update: my hot water isn’t that hot ever really. It’s warm enough to be okay in but not as hot as it’s supposed to be. Also- I’ve had to provide the kitchen roll and bin liners for my flat for months. My kitchen has been consistently disgusting because I guess some or most of my flat mates don’t clean up after themselves. I filed a complaint and a couple of my flat mates cleaned the kitchen. But it got gross again really quickly and they’re putting trash straight into the bins with no bin liner because I refuse to pay for everyone else’s cleaning supplies. I suggest that they hire regular cleaners and add a fee here because I know other people who also have gross flat mates and it’s a nightmare. I’d rather pay a bit extra to not have to live in filth. I haven’t used the kitchen in months because it is so nasty. I’m never staying in a student accom ever again, it has been an unpleasant experience. Furthermore, I live right above the courtyard and most nights I hear people talking at an unacceptable volume down there, practically screaming. It wakes me up. I don’t enjoy that. When I moved into Tufnell, there was random peoples stuff in the room and it smelled strongly of cigarettes so I had to wait for hours for them to clear it out and also stay somewhere else for the night even though I booked my move-in for that day. These photos shown below were taken after I had been away for a month. I am a very clean person and I always clean up after myself and also used to clean up after my flat mates who would leave trash on the counter and random “food” substances and just random gross things everywhere but because I was away for a month, that wasn’t happening. When I returned it looked like that. The smell was so horrendous it must’ve been a health hazard. This is when I sent the complaint. April 4, 2024 Update: In response to the comment given by the iQ Tufnell House that was in response to my review, I found it to sound like a copy and paste corporate apology. My specific communications with the management about these issues were either met with silence, a lack of helpful information, or any offer of compensation for the deficient accommodation.
Lived here in 2023/24, it was good, though much too expensive. The rooms were a good size, but the bathrooms are too small. The kitchens are pretty rudimentary, with mine having some old appliances. The location is decent, near the Northern Line tube station.
Amazing team, very well situated, nice common room and a lovely cat. The bus stop nearby is very well connected to the city center even at night. My room had a lovely view. Would recommend !
Pros: Front desk, security, and maintenance team are all really helpful and kind people; they genuinely do their best to help you as quickly as possible. Location is good – not far from tube station and stores. Common room, gym, and study room are decent. Room was pretty big bronze ensuite. Generally safe and nice neighbourhood with lots of parks, restaurants, and pubs nearby. WiFi is perfect. Cons: Fire alarm goes off everyday for anywhere from 5-60 minutes no exaggeration it is literally everyday and often late at night Hot water takes around 10 minutes to warm up sometimes never warming up and when I first moved in there was none at all. Room was not cleaned before moving in and there were several missing amenities in my room. Several mice spotted in kitchen and room despite being on the 4th floor. Occasional construction happening in the floor above me drilling was deafeningly loud and would start at 7am, this was by far the worst part of living here to be honest I had headaches all day and got very little sleep. Bathroom is extremely, extremely tiny. Impossible to have showers without flooding the whole bathroom. Edit: My bike was also stolen despite being double locked in the bike parking area at the back, so if you are planning on bringing a bike, be wary.
The accommodation is really good. The service provided by the staff was exceptional throughout the stay. It is conveniently placed in London with easy access to tubes and bus for travel to work and university. It was a really pleasant experience overall.
