Beautifully laid out and decor of excellent quality, very impressed with the cleanliness, brightness and layout. The toilets alone would put many a hotel to shame, accessible via a lift from the main restaurant.nThe fish was fantastic, thin and crispy with the most fantastic tasting haddock, 10/10, the accompanying tartare sauce was lovely. However, sorry to say the chips were not that good. Seemed undercooked, pale and quite hard, and the garden peas were watery and tasteless. The only reason l gave 4 Stars.nStaff were friendly and efficient, it was very busy but they did a great job. I would certainly go again but probably have large fish with bread & butter. My friend had a different meal and thoroughly enjoyed it
Lovely early evening meal in Trenchers fish and chip shop. No queue when we arrived but a good 10 deep by the time we left. The staff were really friendly and slick throughout the service. The fish and chips was excellent with crispy batter and nice moist fish inside. The chips were a nice mix of crispy and soft. Traditional tea for me and a slice of bread to complete! Overall a lovely experience and will definitely visit again when in Whitby.
A great fish and chips establishment. Great to see the boat name for catches and the grower and potato variety being used. Other food is available. We visited twice during our stay. Sweets are yummy too I expect we may visit here again.
Absolutely amazing. Very busy, queue at lunchtime but extremely quick to get from queue to a table. The place is gorgeous and huge. Even has an outside seating area. Service was brill, soon approached after seating, advised on choices. Excellent choice on the menu - not just fish and chips. Even so, cod and chips with mushy peas ordered with Yorkshire teas and coke for the youngster. Hands down the best fish and chips ever tasted. Skinless cod in batter cooked in beef dripping - barely any oil perceived. Chips - perfection. Toilets upstairs - easily accessible via stairs or lift. Immaculate toilets! Prices reasonable. Well worth a tip to the service.
We queued down the street to eat here but the queue moved quickly and the staff were fantastic.nDefinitely the best fish we've ever had from a fish and chips shop. The flavour in the haddock was unreal and the cod just melted in your mouth.nBrilliant starters too of Whitby scampi and battered king prawnsnWouldn't hesitate to return on my next trip
