One heck of a refurbishment required!nnThe public spaces look half decent but the rooms...pretty sure Prison decor isn't a thing but they've nailed itnnIt's December, none of the windows seal properly so the tiny heater in the room does nothing and the traffic noise is pretty loud as it's right on a road.nnLots of 'bodge job' repairs around the room, cable trunking is everywhere, the door has no deadbolt, the shower can barely be called that with the trickle of water it producesnnI know it's a 2 star hotel but come on, the brand name should have some standards surely
A little out of the way of the city centre and very billy basic. The general interior and rooms are very dated, but a cheap stay. Still, I've paid less for nicer looking rooms at other, similar age Travelodge hotels, so a little improvement to the decor would go a long way. The room was clean enough, just looking extremely tired.nnDespite this, the bed was pretty comfortable and was able to get a good night's sleep, even with the windows open all night and a fair bit of noise from traffic and nightlife.nnStaff weren't the most inviting to be honest, but helpful enough.
You rely on Travelodge for a basic and satisfactory overnight stay and I would say this one is only just meeting that requirement. Staff were friendly enough but the room wasn't quite clean and extremely tatty, the bed was only just on comfort-wise, and there was no working deadlock on the door an essential to feel safe when you're travelling alone. Nowhere convenient nearby to breakfast and it wasn't all that cheap for such a basic stay either.
We've stayed at this same Travelodge twice now. And twice I've been let down. The floor hasn't been hoovered, the bath tub was disgusting found hair. Desk was sticky. Didn't smell clean. Door squeaks. Very dusty. The baby cot was stained and looks over used. Noisy. Not pleased at all. When someone is spending money at least make sure the room is clean. Bed isn't comfortable at all. I couldn't wait to check out. Oh and the bin at the entrance was overflowing. I wouldn't come here. Only good thing is staff are nice and there's a lot of shops near by. Also Aldi and Lidl are walking distance
We were lucky to get a room on a Saturday night as we had booked the Improved Private House in Portsmouth which turned out to be disgustingly filthy.nWe started off on the 6th floor which was noisy from the road loose sewer plate which cars drove over and we were moved to the ground floor disability room which was spacious and less noisy.nBreakfast was £5.50 and consisted of apple juice, cor1nflakes with uht semi fat milk, cereal bar and pain au chocolat, WiFi £3 and parking £5 for 24 hours. The staff were very friendly Illias from Ukraine especially so.nWe were able to have our dog in with us
