Dreadful hotel - not even the 2 star it claims! Appalling value for money. I stayed here only because I was attending a nearby event. I paid over £150 including early check-in as Brighton was busy, but I truly wish I had stayed somewhere further afield and spent the saved money on taxis. I didn't note the problems initially as I was dropping my luggage and going straight out. What horrors when I did have time to inspect - there are only 2 sockets, one on the 'dressing table' shared with the fan and the kettle, the other in the far corner of the room from the bed and used for the heater also. In this day and age where everyone is carrying a mobile phone this is seriously inconvenient, especially in view of the price. The bathroom was poorly maintained and dirty - the floor filthy and black mold in the shower, I dropped an earring and noted that behind the bed it was disgusting and not seen a vacuum cleaner in a long time. The carpet had not been cleaned properly - I have photos to support these comments. There is no bar or meal service, only a vending machine - not satisfactory when paying these prices. The one redeeming feature was that the staff were pleasant and helpful. They really should review their pricing policy - there should be a cap even at busy times that reflect the standard of the hotel as this was plain robbery for the level of accommodation provided. I couldn't wait to leave, this should not be the case at this cost.
I found it particularly notable that the staff I encountered obviously genuinely cared that I had a nice stay and that everything was clean and in good order. An attitude one would more readily expect from an independent guest house than from the budget end of a huge hotel chain, so all credit to those staff. The room itself seemed to be slightly behind the level of refurbishment of some branches, but this was only given away by small details like the lack of a heated mirror in the bathroom and not any shortcomings in condition. If I was forced to find something negative to say, it would be that the cleaning of the fixed bottle-opener has been missed. I'm not sure why you should need a bottle-opener when there's no mini bar but never mind. I chose this establishment because I was visiting Brighton, and it is a short drive away but much cheaper than equivalent accommodation in the town. I also greatly appreciate the free car park.
Staff was helpful and really friendly but room was dirty with pice of food by the bed. Bathroom was moldy and overall poor maintenance of the building and equipment. I would not recommend for anyone to stay there as it is simply not worth the price. I have stayed many times in Travelodge hotels but this one if the worse!!! I wish I took some pictures to justify my review. Honestly add few more quid and you better of staying elsewhere.
I booked an accessible room but when I arrived I was given a normal room where I could not access the toilet. I queried this and was told the hotel was fully booked and no other rooms were available. After some discussion with the receptionist the fully able person occupying the accessible room was persuaded to change rooms. This is ridiculous. Also, despite leaving the "please make up the room" sign out when we returned after our day or nothing had been cleared in the room and the response was " we're having trouble with the room cleaners" Pathetic.
Rooms were dirty, especially the bathrooms. Hair and body wash dispenser was empty and rooms not prepared with any bathroom towels. Paid for early check in to attend a wedding and one wasn't ready at early check in time to which the reception team did give us a new room. However should have stayed at Premier Inn.Rooms: 1/5
Very friendly and helpful staff, nice hotel to stay near to Brighton, good value for money! Rob and the manager Lori are very helpful and friendly, I definitely will go back again. Highly recommended!Rooms: 5/5
I guess it's what you expect from these chains. Room was clean and warm, but no hair dryer,no bath mat, cheap coffee, no glasses, no frills whatsoever. Traffic noise from A23 bad, sound proofing inadequate, but price was ok which made up for a bit of it, unlikely to do a return stay.Rooms: 3/5
It's a Travelodge, it's basic, cheap & cheerful and keeps the rain off your head. Beyond that, there's not really a great deal that you can say. Top Tip. Take your own tea, coffee & milk, as the stuff that is provided in the room is UNDRINKABLE! Rooms: Rooms are basic, but clean & tidy which is what you'd expect from Travelodge. Plenty of power points to charge devices etc. Kettle & tea, coffee etc provided, but please see the full review about the coffee Food & drinks: At Hickstead, there is a Shell garage with Waitrose a Burger King & a Starbucks, all of which are more than happy to turn you upside down and shake you until they have all of your money. Standard fare from the BK & Starbucks, but as I've said, if you don't take your own tea, coffee & milk, Starbucks gets expensive after your 5th cup You do get 10% discount though as you're staying at the hotel
Rob on reception was a star. Gave us plenty of information about restaurants and pubs nearby. This travelodge is located next to a burger King and Starbucks with a shell/ waitrose garage opposite. Our stay was peaceful and staff were great. Would definitely stay againRooms: 5/5
Stayed here a few years back .... Rooms was clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful and sorted us an extra pillow there and then.... Ask for extra milk when you check in as you only get enough in the room to make 2 drinks and there is enough coffee and tea to make a lot more drinksRooms: 5/5
