I stayed here with my wife for five nights. Location very convenient: excellent shopping facilities available, plus a frequent bus straight into the city Breakfast hot and excellent. Great choice of coffee. My room was perfect and, facing the back, was very quiet. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Recommended
You know what you are going to get at a Travelodge. Our room was a very good size and was clean. One bug bear is the hotel car park. You have to register your car registration every time you re-enter the car park during your stay, if you leave the car park for longer than 90 minutes. Seemingly, this is because the car park is not owned by Travelodge. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. However, it is obvious that a number of the rooms are being used as temporary accommodation; you can tell by the clothes being hung out to dry outside of the room windows. It is sad that there isn't enough real accommodation out thete to house people.
It's been a great experience at the maypole travel lodge, lovely clean rooms, very nice breakfast every morning and best of all is the friendly and helpful service from all the staff especially the wonderful Sophie who made sure that everything is sorted.Rooms: 5/5
Not a nice area as on arrival there were a group of local thugs loitering around the entrance, drinking beer and smoking weed, think they may have been homeless as one asked me for change. I had to wait 40 minutes to check in as the one and only receptionist was apparently dealing with an incident with other guests. Tbf the room was not to bad though the bed was very small and there was no power outlets neer the bed to charge my phone. The room refreshments were OK but very skimpy on sugar and milk. The toilet in the bathroom was very low off the ground and the shower was very small with no shelf to put your shampoo etc. The guest up above were very noisy bumping and bang and the children in the room opposite were screaming and screeching. I was rudley awakened at 3am by noisy revellers shouting outside my door and then they continued the party in the room next door. I did complain to the receptionist the next day who offered me a complimentary breakfast which tbf was lovley.
simple my time was fine but is or was a council overflow hotel so some times it can be full of kids and families and a bit noisy you get what you pay for simple as that hence the five star there not trying to be the hyattRooms: 5/5
Second time we have stayed here. Staff polite , friendly & very helpful. Breakfast was nice however our stay was spoiled by people with children allowed to jump off beds and thud about in the rooms along with banging doors late at night and before 6am in the morning. All children should be kept on the ground or first floors.Rooms: 5/5
Everything really good apart from no soap/shower gel in bathroom. Had my own, so no problem. Wifi not free, except for 30mins.Rooms: 4/5
We stayed for 3 nights whilst visiting family living down the road. It's also well positioned for Cadbury world, Edgbaston, Birmingham city centre and Solihull. They also accept dogs for an extra cleaning fee which was perfect for our needs. You couldn't hear noises from outside or other rooms but you could hear them in the corridor. I have hidden disability and need an accessible bathroom so we booked accessible double rooms. We were given low down twin beds pushed together with a small gap in the middle. This caused me significant discomfort and we asked to switch for a double. We were told it would be changed when we were out. The first day it wasn't as we had left a blanket on the bed and on the second it hadn't as he hadn't seen us go out. On leaving he told my wife if we wanted a double we should have booked a non accessible room as disabled people needed the twin beds. The shower buttons were broken so it was difficult to get a good temperature and the water backed up and flooded the whole bathroom - the nighttime staff were super friendly, helpful and mopped up the water. I accidentally pulled the emergency cord in the bathroom it's on the opposite side of the door to the light cord and it's near impossible to tell the difference in the dark and the staff did respond within 3 minutes. So I was reassured if I had feinted I would have got help. Rooms: The rooms were as expected for a 2 star hotel, a little tired and a few stains but had normal fixtures and were clean. Walkability: The disabled parking is also quite far away from the entrance so not brilliant if you need it to be closer to destination rather than just space for a wheelchair. There were plenty of regular spaces closer when we visited though.
A pathetic evening meal choice of two pizzas. The reason given. Kitchen is too small. However they cooked and continued to cook full English breakfast in the morning. The hotel is very hard to access in a wheelchair. Too many tight spaces. The beds were like children's small. Asked for a double accessible. Given two tiny singles pushed together with single quilts. The carpet was stained with blood. The bathroom floor was very dirty. The shower head was obviously full of scale it was so slow and the on off button was broken. The bar was reception. Asked if we could eat in the restaurant with our take away. Was told. I will allow it because you're in a wheelchair. If you can't supply a decent evening choice then don't bother. But allow the space to be used. Rooms: Dirty. Tiny low beds.
