Liked - Beautiful location and lovely hotel room. Disliked - Staff/customer service was hard to get in contact with prior to stay. Wanted to book treatments and it took me 2 days calling 3x both days and no response both times and an email to them direct to get in contact. They emailed me back and told me I was unable to book treatments due to having no availability. The day before arrival they called me to confirm that I was then able to book treatments which was great however why couldn’t book them myself in the first place? Because nobody would answer me. Upon arrival we needed to pay a £50 service charge without warning or reasonable notice on top of already paying in advance. The spa wasn’t peaceful or relaxing due to high volumes of people opposite to reasons for going to a spa. Room was freezing and took AGES to heat up. Woke up to £30 charge on my credit card without my consent as I hadn’t spent any money on my credit card during my stay so needed to go to reception first thing in the morning to confirm what on earth this was for. Would not recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay unless you want to wait to go into the jacuzzi for 20 minutes due to over crowding or payments to be taken from your card without consent. Really really disappointed.
Awful...I walked out! Booked a spa day for my birthday for my husband and I. It was honestly the worst spa I have ever been to. Changing rooms were disgusting with mould on the ceiling and plaster falling off. Lockers and benches broken. Hairdryers missing and rusty holders falling off the wall. Not to mention how dirty they were. I never made it to the pool after hearing the other customers complaining of how cold it was. It was also full of miserable, cold children. Relaxing area was dark and unappealing with a couple of stale pastries left out. The staff thankfully, were lovely but I felt so sorry for them having to deal with so many complaints. Completely ruined my birthday.
We enjoyed our Christmas Dinner and dance with an overnight stay. Thoroughly enjoyed. Food was gorgeous. However, breakfast could've been more organised. It seemed we had to wait for cups, orange juice, eggs etc. All good and would recommend though Rooms: Great rooms and very clean. Could've been a bit cooler overnight though Food & drinks: Food was gorgeous for our evening meal.
Was on a work trip. Hotel isn't very clean and it's dated. A very long walk like a maze just to get to your room. Few of us stayed here from work, one found pubic hair on their bed, another dead moths, someone else found previous guests items and mouldy water in the coffee machine. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Coffee machine in breakfast area not working. Breakfast was awful, cold and not good quality. Need to improve their cleaning in all parts of the hotel.
Dreadful. We booked a relaxing couples spa day. Relaxing it was NOT! The swimming pool was full of children. The mud treatment room was dirty and cold. It wasn't a cheap booking. Just felt like a leisure centre with towels. Lunch couldn't cope with 2/3 tables at once. We asked to moved at told we couldn't. A table next to us asked for vegetarian food and were told no. No one checked for allergies. Don't waste your money
The hotel presents itself as a luxury hotel, however, our experience was of the contrary. The room felt pretty outdated. The room was very cold. Heating didn't work initially upon arrival. The bathroom sink literally overflowed as soon as you opened the tap. Although the hotel claims to have so much acres of land, there's not really a nice walking area etc. We wanted to use the sauna and steam room and required gowns. Yet the staff said that we needed to pay extra for gowns. Even though we paid 200 odd quid for a couple nights they couldn't just borrow the gowns. The swimming pool and sauna facilities are OK. On our last night we were interrupted in our room at least 4 times. Couple times staff asking us when we were going to leave which was odd.. or someone knocking to see what was happening with the heating. Overall, I personally wouldn't recommend. We've experienced Premier inn rooms at a far better standard. Highly disappointed
Stayed three nights for work. The hotel shows it's ag,e but that should not be the issue if they get the basics right. The room was dated, especially the bathroom but serviceable; Very disappointing food. Poor quality breakfast, dirty cups, tables, cutlery, day in and day out. Cheap coffee. Evening meal burger is pretty much "Rustlers" quality. I didn't have such bad food for years. Extra star for a decent gym.
We have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions over the past 12 years and was really looking forward to this stay . The hotel is looking a bit dated now and needs a bit of sprucing up ,the mens changing rooms especially need looking at and also the steam room was out of order during our stay . Overall the bed was comfy and had 2 good nights sleep but rooms need some attention. The hotel seemed under staffed and lacking direction . The Breakfast used to be fantastic and was one of the reasons we returned but it was very poor this stay we constantly had to wait for food to be brought out ,bread was actually still frozen and the hot water luke warm. We travelled quite a distance and think after this visit it will be our last. Shame .
I stayed for a conference with work my only problem was the WiFi or the lack of as it would connect with the passwords provided The rooms were clean and tidy with nice facilities. No complaints for the food that we were served tasty The Golf range was affordable its a shame I didn't get time for a round
Firstly the receptionist got funny when I didn’t know what time we wanted breakfast then even though we had paid a high price for the room she wanted extra for parking and extra for using the spa facilities. She took our money for this at 6.00 pm. When we turned up to use the spa we were told kids couldn’t use it after 6pm. When we told the receptionist she just shrugged her shoulders and didn’t care. This was the reason we had booked this hotel on a stop off from Devon. The website didn’t mention it and she didn’t mention it. The room was meant to overlook either the golf course or the hotel gardens.A bit of unkept land between rooms isn’t classed as gardens. Also the shower is very low. I couldn’t even fit in it without bending. We were very unsatisfied and i said we were not staying and asked for a refund. The receptionist agreed but said as we had booked through a 3rd party we would have to get our refund through them. They then went back on their word and we didn’t get a refund her reason being I was rude
