"The Travellers Rest is an 18th century former halfway house that's now a welcoming Chef & Brewer pub restaurant. Lying on the outskirts of Nottingham in the pleasant Mapperley area, our country pub's right on the edge of endless miles of open countryside. Enjoy stunning views out across the neighbouring fields with a couple of local cask ales in our beer garden, or head inside to sit by one of our three open fires when the cooler nights draw in. We serve delicious pub food, including a selection of breakfasts on our menu, seasonal specials and a pub Sunday roast. With an EV charging point, free WiFi, disabled facilities and a warm welcome extended to the whole family – including the dog – book your table with us online now."

My parents and I met up here for a dinner together. There was plenty of out door seating but we decided to eat in because of the weather. The food arrived quickly and was well cooked and presented nicely. The only thing negative about our visit, is that it could do with a good clean through of cobwebs around the seating areas. Although spiders can weave webs in less than a day, the dust on the webs shows they've been there for sometime!
Hannah and Kiera sorting us out with table, food and drinks. Love their smiles and energy. Any issues were quickly sorted, all absolutely fine. Really busy restaurant, but everyone looked after very professionally. Parking: Lovely outdoor seating...looking out over the landscape at the back.
The food was nice and the staff were friendly. I had the steak and ale pie which was tastey. We called in on a Saturday with a party of 5 and we had to wait around 10mins to be seated. So it can get busy and you may prefer to book. There is a large outdoor area as well which would be nice in the summer. Dog friendly pub and they also serve some doggy dishes.
We hadn't booked, but we were given a table straightaway at lunchtime. We didn't have to wait long for our food. There was plenty of choice and it was well cooked and tasty. There was plenty of room in the car park.Food: 5/5
This place actually gets better, or I get more fond of it.... Every time we try a spontaneous meal out and it goes astray, we pop back to The Travellers. The baked cheese to share is a superb starter. And don't forget to check the specials board.
Popped in for late lunch on a Sunday. It is a nice environment with a decent choice of food and drink. This was really let down by the standard of the roast beef Sunday dinner, it was poor. The beef was dry and grey, and the portion was really small. For two of us to have two rounds of drinks and two main courses at £75, it did not feel good value my wife however was very happy with her vegetarian Sunday roast.
It is a nice place for some breakfast, has nice view, good service and pleasant interior. Food was okay, my smoked salmon and egg was a little too plain, sour cream seemed like had no dill, i couldn't taste it or see it in the sauce and it just felt like whole dish is missing some seasoning. My friends pancakes were nice! Both dishes looked appealing and latte was okay too.
Good atmosphere and attentive staff . The food is acceptable but nothing much to wow you. I had the Atlantic cod, chips and mushy peas with a side of scampi and bread and butter. I've had far worse, but at nearly £20 expected a little better.
I had the mixed grill, not impressed. The chicken breast was minuscule, gone in three bites and a dozen chips. The steak and gammon did have a decent grilled taste. Overall it looked sparse on the plate. My companion had the chicken and bacon sandwich which was dry and again was thin on chicken and even less bacon. I wish I had taken a picture
Been coming here for 40+ years, so have seen its various incarnations. It's remained a favourite throughout the decades. Only ever had one disappointing experience & management swiftly dealt with this. We visit, several times a year, with various friends, & dog, whose photo is near the bar, with other canine regulars family, or just the 2 of us. We will visit again soon.
