Nearly booked this for a family meal blind without visiting it before. Pleased i did not!! Went with my partner just as a spare of the moment thing. He is black. He was given strange looks as soon as we got through the door. When we go out for family meals my father is in a wheelchair. Not disabled accessible at all. Disabled toilet facilities are up steps. Not many suitable tables on the flat. Only around 4. So close to the bar. So you would struggle to get one anyway. It was not packed when we went in. But all the tables there was full. We ordered the chick n mix. It took absolutely ages to come. When we eventually got it, it looked like it was thrown on the plate. The chicken was NOT cooked. It was PINK!! We asked for a refund. It took ages for that to be sorted too. Only one member of staff to cover the bar and take food to tables. Only got one star cos we did actually get a refund.
Came here for a nice lunch with my sister. We both wanted a meal from the 2 for £8.99. As this was a cheap meal 5* food wasn't expected. However, edible food was!! This was not the case. I ordered sausage and mash, the sausages were like cardboard, the mash had a film on it and was obviously microwaved, however the real issue was the gravy. The gravy came out so thin it was running off the plate and you could see the powder swimming in it. I had a quick taste and it was just a mouth full of powder. I sent it back and after 10 minutes of waiting it came back. The second time was worse. It was like a plate of mud. The gravy had clumped up on the end of my fork and was like the chef had just tipped the powder on my plate and hoped for the best. My sister's meal was no better as she had pie, mash and gravy. I was offered a dessert as a token but there was no way I was putting myself through that, so I was offered a refund instead. They gave me a refund for my meal only £4.50, not very sincere or apologetic, especially as the other meal was clearly just as bad as mine. Avoid at all costs unless you want a nightmare meal.
This place has seriously gone downhill! Food is average for the price but the service was rubbish. 6 of us ordered food, 5 lots came out leaving 1 for a good 5 minutes, waitress dropped the steak knife along the way which then resulted in another 5 minute wait for that to be replaced. Kids then ordered dessert and we waited over half an hour for 2 ice creams - I wouldn't mind if it was busy but we were one of 3 tables in there. Will not be returning!
Me and my family went there last night for a meal as it was my mam and dads wedding anniversary ... sadly we lost our mam a year and half ago so we all wanted a special night .... all the staff were very good and helpful. but I've got to say it was about an hour for the meals to come out ... which in my opinion was far to long to wait .... and also the pub could do with a good clean as especially in the dining area .. there was food on the floor and dried food still on my fork and the chairs were badly stained we had to change them as didn't want to sit on them
Though the decor is dated, it has a lovely feel to it. Lovely service, beautiful setting overlooking their beer garden. Kids can play on the equipment. We really enjoy our meals here as a family. A place we enjoy visiting whenever we go to Nottingham.
Went here today with my sister for lunch Me and my friend usually eat here and have never had a bad experience until today. The Service was quick food came out after bearly 10minutes from ordering. It was luke warm and the presentation was aweful.. The gravy was pale brown and very watery with powder floating about all over the place and the taste was no better. My sisters meals was the same and so when the waitress came too ask if everything ok my sister told her the truth which was clearly a no... The waitress gave her apologies and took away her plate. 10minutes later the waitress came back with her meal and it looked worse than the first one.. The gravy was like mud very thick with clumps, the taste was really overpowering and The sausages taste like cardboard she did not eat this meal and pushed it to the side. The waitress offered us a refund but only half of what we paid which was very disappointing. I Will not be going here again..
Been coming here for a number of years with no problem but I have just had the worst mixed grill I have ever had so sent it back but couldn't stomach a replacement. I think they have a new owner as the staff are new and don't seem to know what they are doing. I also think the chef wouldn't even know how to boil an egg.
Stopped off here 4 times for tea as I'm down here on business and got to say I haven't a negative word to say. Nice, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. Clean environment. I don't mind the wait for the food because then at least i know it's cooked. And the meals are delicious.
Very friendly staff. Good food and puddings and excellent prices. New owner who is very friendly and helpful as we aren't local to area. Lots of advice and tips on getting into Nottingham. Highly recommend will be back tomorrow
Just got back from The Old Spot, I had Chicken New Yorker, peas like bullets and bacon practically non-existent but lots of fat. My partner had Square Steak & Ale pie and had to pour his lager on the pie to make it edible. When his dish arrived it looked like a No 4 on a dice, potato in one corner, pie in the second, bullets in the third and gravy in the fourth. Now he feels ill. Will not be going again and suggest you don't waste your money.
