Travellers Rest
"The Travellers Rest is a beautiful Cornish village pub nestled between Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay beaches, just a mile from Newquay Airport. The pub and glamping pods are located on the North Cornwall coast with easy access to the south west coast paths. Dating back to the 17th Century the pub has a cosy, friendly atmosphere and a fantastic range of the finest beers, ciders, spirits, wines and coffee. Our menu changes with the seasons, as we create our menus around the fabulous produce we have available on our doorstep. We are hugely passionate about great quality, home cooked, locally sourced, seasonal fresh food. You can expect to find the pub classics, as well as some of our own twists on contemporary and international inspirations."

First visit to the Travellers rest and arrived to a warm welcome. Friendly staff who were able to talk through the menu and answer any questions, a true credit to the establishment. Food was excellent with generous portions that satisfied the appetite. Although busy and obviously popular with locals you never felt rushed. All in all a great pub well worth a visit.
Came to this Pub for dinner and a beer after working nearby the airport. The staff was friendly, and the food was exactly what I was looking for. I had the Pan Fried Cornish Hake. The fish was perfectly fried and juicy with a nice crisp skin. Many other entrees looked just as good. Top it off with a cold Guinness and you're good to go. Will come back here for sure!
Brilliant little village pub with a patio, two dining areas and a pool table where we spent a handful of evenings while on a mini get-away staying down the road. Staff were extremely kind and lovely. The Sunday lunch carvery is back too - make sure to book ahead!
Great food, reasonably priced. Interior has been refurbished since our last visit and looks great. Like all establishments in the area, seem very short staffed compared to previous years - another ‘Brexit Benefit’ I suspect. However, serving staff always friendly despite being rushed off their feet. A great visit and definitely recommended.
Comfortable pub. Menu was varied but not amazing, had the Nasi goreng which had fresh veg but obviously reheated rice which was bullet like in texture. My partner had the Katsu curry that had no spice at all. Staff were a bit indifferent and one lady looked at me like I was annoying her when I asked for directions to the toilet. Wouldn’t recommend unless pushed.
Having visited a few times of the years we have never been disappointed with food or the service. A great spot to stop off at and enjoy a local beer or bite to eat.
Stopped at the travellers Rest after some serious travelling so seemed quite appropriate. Staff here were great, friendly helpful and efficient. The fish and chips were top rate, nice crispy batter good chunky chips, and the beer was very well looked after cool but not freezing and crystal clear. What a lovely pint. Thank you for making the effort. A very well run pub.
Lots of free parking, great atmosphere, huge tasty portions of food and a special mention to Keira, our waitress, who kindly asked if we wanted to move to a table in a quieter area when originally seated next to a large group of people. She was very helpful and made our visit a pleasant experience and we'll definitely go back next time we visit the area.
Returned to The travellers Rest after enjoying a Sunday roast at the beginning of the week. I ordered mussels. When they arrived they were cold and smelt of sewage! The waitress told me it was the beer they had been cooked in and suggested I try them cooked in white wine. When the second bowl arrived, the mussels smelt exactly the same as the first batch and tasted off! The waiter agreed and told the chef. The chef said he couldn't understand why the mussels smelt the way they did, as they were fresh today from their regular supplier. Hopefully I won't be ill tonight!
Booked a table for 13 at the Travellers rest on a very busy bank holiday on the queens jubilee and the food and service was faultless. Many of the group ordered the steak all cooked in various ways and they got each one spot on. Great choice on the menu and a great kids menu too. Staff we attentive and friendly and would defo recommend if staying in the area. Decor is a modern, gastro pub affair.
