A lovely station. Escalators and lift to get upstairs when entering to platform-level and to get downstairs when exiting to street level. There is only 1 platform with plenty of seating and great view down the DLR tracks. The station has no barriers and is not staffed… but pretty safe at all times as it is located in the city
Nice DLR station which is the last stop on this line. There are two exits and entrances at this station with lifts and escalators available. Tower of London is across the road from here along with Tower Hill tube station.
A DLR station at the end of the line this station is good for visiting tower bridge and tower of London. I love the design of this station at the entrance.
If strapped for cash, try and bag the front seat and do sight seeing from the DLR easier at Tower Gateway as it is a quiet station. Bonkument what I call the conjoined Bank and Monument stations is much busier.
Tower Gateway is a nice and modern DLR terminal station in Central London next to Tower Bridge and Tower of London. It has services to Beckton ONLY. Tower Gateway has step free access from street to train. There are no ticket barriers just validators. It is NOT an internal interchange with Tower Hill on the District / Circle Lines nearby.
Connecting one of the most popular tourist spots in London, which is the London Bridge; it's usually remains busy. The station is very straightforward with proper signage, maps and ticket buying machines. And if any delays happen, which is very rare, there is another underground station within 2-3 minutes walking distance.
Dlr is great as you get to see out the front and it is quick amongst other things but this is about tower gateway station To get here from the tube go to tower Hill. Trains every 8mins in peak and every 15 not in the peak. The original glass architectural design is great from the inside and out. The one way system on the platforms is good for crowd control but seeing as it has trains only to beckton and is hard to get that is not often an issue. No barriers here make it easy to board quickly.
Used this to take the DLR to work everyday and it almost never failed me! Just get off on the opposite side to which the voice recording tells you. It's more convenient. And you might encounter a man playing the bagpipes under the bridge. It's kinda nice.
Good terminus for the DLR if you are not looking to transfer to other underground lines. Close to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge so good point to start sightseeing. DLR trains from here run to Beckton so need to change at Shadwell it Limehouse for Lewisham or Woolwich. Never more than a few minutes wait on same platform. Limehouse has better cover than Shadwell and also tends to be less crowded.
Does it's job well enough for a station this close to the capital that isn't underground. Step free access is provided as well as escelators too. The Tower of London as well as Tower Bridge are close by.
