Sent me an email 1 minute before my pick up time saying they wouldn't have a car ready for another two hours. I had to ask for a ride to the rental agency and was already there at the time of the email. Then had to get another ride later. No apology or anything in the email.

I was very satisfied with my rental. Initially I had a compact car Ford Focus booked, was handed a BMW 3 series which I consider a considerable upgrade. The staff were really helpful, clarified everything for me and were quick to get me on the road. I had no problems with the handover of the car, the staff also advised me on any queries I had regarding the vehicle. The location might prove a bit troublesome if you plan to walk or take public transit, as it's quite remote, in a large industrial estate.

Cheap car hire with high, very high fees if something goes wrong. Rented a van. Were meant to be given short wheel base van due to Thrifty policy on age restriction. They didn't have any at their office in Dundee, so gave us a "free upgrade" to the long wheel base Ford Transit. We made a small dint on the door close to the plastic panel, when maneuvering - totally our fault, yet it might have been avoided be it the car we were originally booking. As a result, whole deposit+admin fees got deducted, ~£850... Clearly, it is much cheaper to buy a whole new door and to pay the mechanic expenses for a Ford Transit door replacement than £850... Just be careful, people.

Absolutely outstanding service from Audrey and the team at Thrifty Dundee, I have hired from many rental companies in the past and this is by far the most professional and friendly service! The staff always go out of their way to ensure they have a vehicle for me and any queries I have had or issues are resolved immediately!  Can’t compliment the staff and service enough! 5

I returned a Ford after my rental and was shocked to be told that I had to pay for an extremely minor scratch to the wheel, which did not compromise the integrity of the tyre. I was told that i will also be charged 123 pounds for the "new tyre". Please see attached pictures to understand the "huge damages" the car sustained. The staff were also very rude and derogatory to both my mum and I. I STRONGLY ADVISE TO STAY AWAY FROM THEM

Rude and unhelpful staff. Website failed to mention extra £60 fee to drop car off on a Sunday. Also it was not clear that 2 utility bills AND a bank statement with home address were needed in order to rent a vehicle on top of the usual driving licence, counterpart and credit card. As UK residents this seems like overkill, and should be made clear on the website. Overall the attitude of the staff was so apalling that I wouldn't even recommend my worst enemies to attempt renting a car with this company. Furthermore the location of the company is not conventient for most people. Very disappointed.

I was told that if i handed the car back with no fuel I would need to pay £50 which I was fine with. It came to the day and I handed the car back threw arnold clark with no fuel in the car. I recieved a phone call that I was expecting for my card details and handed them over only for him to say he will debit my card for £89! I told him 5 times that I do not give him perdition to debit my card for anything over £50 to which he said I signed a contract saying I agreed to this! The only problem with signing forms is you can't sign a form over the phone! Not once to did I deal with them because it was organised by kia and I only spike with kia over the phone! I then go to check my bank and they have taken £107! I phoned them and asked why and they had added VAT! So I paid £107 for a tank of petrol in a car that only holds £50 worth of petrol! That's more than double! Compliant into trading standards and the bank for a refund! Will update with what comes of this.  Update: after being investigated by the fraud team, the full amount was returned to my bank account. For anyone who finds themself in the same situation, the "The Consumer Rights Payment Surcharges Regulations 2012" policy was very helpful.

Used one of their vans last week: a really nice friendly service with paperwork done quickly - with just a couple of utilities needed though I'd used PayPal for prepayment. The van was less than a year old and under 20,000 miles on the clock. Very clean. Only failing was the radio should of had a better aerial - but you can get your iPhone to link with Bluetooth.... Or fill a SD card!

Thrifty in Dundee are awesome. I showed up with bank statements that were older than 8 weeks so couldn't be used oops but they helped me out and allowed me to use their wifi to login to my accounts and prove my identity. On top of that I had rented a hatchback for about £25 but what rolled out of the garage? A fully loaded Jaguar XE. Absolutely made my day. Awesome staff and IMHO the best fleet of cars in Dundee. I'll be back.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Rude, unhelpful and officious. Even if they were half the price of every other car rental company I would never use them again. The sad thing is that I have liked Thrifty in other countries but after this experience I will not use them again.
