Cheap and cheerful. Don't leave your car in the parking area overnight however. My car was broken into. Not the garages fault. Just be aware.

Avoid at all costs if possible. My experience with Practical Car & Van Rental was an absolute nightmare.

To preface - I was searching for my best car hire option as a 23 year old U.S. visitor. Many places make it unaffordable to hire a car with young driver surcharges. When I called up Practical I made it clear that I was 23 and from the U.S. and when quoted a price was told neither of those things would raise the price. How convenient! I made sure it wouldn't be an issue and even discussed how they were they only company I could find without such an extra charge.

I arrived on a Friday afternoon to pick up the car and there was only a young girl working at the desk. She proceeded to process my paperwork until an insurance block came up not allowing her to go on. She called up her boss (the man who had quoted me) and he said there was nothing he could do. When I spoke with him and expressed my extreme disappoint he was very rude and told me to get out and leave. I suggested he remedy the situation by paying the difference (less than 100 pounds) of hiring a car at a real company to which he scoffed and told me absolutely not. I reminded him that it was in fact his fault for his ignorance of his own insurance policy. How could the owner of a car hire company not be familiar with his own insurance policy?! It boggles the mind. 

The poor girl working at the desk was very apologetic and polite the entire time as it wasn't her fault. Felt bad for her to have an incompetent and rude boss.

In the end I had to scramble to save my holiday by booking at Arnold Clark and paid a bit more due to their 10 pound/day young driver surcharge. Looking back I'm happy to have not given this disgraceful business any money.  Avoid Practical at all costs.

I required a van to go to France to move contents of a holiday home. I received excellent advice and information that made the whole process trouble free. All documentation for travel abroad was in place when I picked up the van and I was delighted with the service I received.

Friendly staff whom were very helpful and the vehicles were new and immaculately turned out. Gave great technical advice would definitely use them again.
