Was concerned when looking the reviews in relation to cleanliness. I called and spoke with the company and they have invested in an external cleaning. The room was in really good condition and was very clean. Check in was easy etc. quite happyRooms: 5/5
Made the mistake of not checking the reviews before we booked it. The room was cleaned minimally or possibly not at all since the previous guests. The bed had zero support and was sunken in the middle. The wooden slats under the bed also dropped out during the night, and when we lifted the bed to fix it, we found a pair of underwear not sure if it’s used or not lying there. Utensils are also dirty and clearly not washed. There were also crumbs or remnants of food on the chairs. In summary, stay away from this place, it’s filthy and disgusting. Pay a little more and stay in one of the brand name hotels, at least you’d get some sort of standard there.
Placed booking. Needed to cancel at the last minute, and beyond the point when the hotel was contractually applied to provide a refund. They did anyway. No quibbling whatsoever. Incredibly refreshing in this day and age. Surprised and exceptionally grateful.Rooms: 5/5
This place has been abandoned, but they're still letting rooms at the same cost. The main selling point, the bar/restaurant, has been closed for months now without any word of this on their website or socials, yet they still advertise this when booking. The hotel is running on a skeleton crew of cleaners, who don't visit often. This is evidenced by how dirty it is as seen in recent reviews. Interestingly, the owner is trying to sell this place for 1 million! Wish the room came with some of what they're smoking as it might then justify not staying in the Hilton or Premier inn just down the road!! AVOID! Rooms: Dirty. Food & drinks: The bar/restaurant is closed permanently.
Stayed in a Deluxe Residential Suite for 4 nights last week 1-4 April 2024. I chose the Three Cranes because of the it's location, kitchenette, and the good, recent reviews I read. I must've stayed at a different Three Cranes on Queen Street in Sheffield than the folks who wrote those reviews. The Deluxe Residential Suite is described on the Three Cranes website as: "where space, elegance, and comfort intertwine to create an unforgettable stay ... every detail is curated to redefine your idea of luxury". They were right - my stay was unforgettable, and they certainly did re-define my idea of luxury because I hadn't, until I stayed there, realised luxury=unstaffed and dirty. The booking confirmation email stated that check in would be in the lounge, then there would be a complimentary drink in that lounge. I don't care about the drink - but these statements imply that there will be staff, and there was no-one there, and the lounge appeared closed every time I passed it. Instead, I received a text on the day with codes to the street door and the key safe next to my room door. A reply to that text asking about the laundry services their website says they provide was never answered. The building the parts I saw personally - including foyer, stairs and hallways to and including Room 6 was filthy. For example, check-in was from 3pm, and as of 3pm there were multiple piles of laundry on the floor in the corridors, some of them remained for days. The carpet in the common areas is very stained and looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a while. My room was so dirty I went and bought cleaning products and cleaned it myself before unpacking, using the bathroom, preparing any sort of food, or even walking barefoot on the floor. It had not been vacuumed between the last guest and myself, and considering the different colours and lengths of hair I saw, probably hadn't been in months. The beds are described by the Three Cranes as: "a cocoon of relaxation designed to ensure your slumber is nothing short of blissful". The bed linen was thin and threadbare, the flat sheet acting as fitted sheet was not tucked in, and the pillows were old, thin and lumpy. If there were any cocoons, they probably would have belonged to insects. Thankfully I didn't see any of those, and the bed linen did appear to be clean/fresh. The tea towel in the kitchenette was dirty, and the TV did not work. See photos for: COMMON AREAS - example of stained carpet in a hallway. ENSUITE described online as a "sanctuary of rejuvenation"! - SOME of the wee on the toilet seat there was more UNDER the seat I didn't take photos of, - dust and hair on the skirting board next to the toilet, - hand smudges on the shower taps. KITCHENETTE - grot from the cupboard handles, bench tops, and the floor on the cleaning wipes I used, - dirty cup/mug photo of inside of mug, with spoon, showing the coffee ring, - dirty fridge shelves and fridge door, - dirty cutlery in the cutlery drawer there was no dish liquid or sponges, so previous guests couldn't have washed their dishes, but evidently this isn't checked. GENERAL - hair, crumbs etc. from the floor in the bin, - crumbs on one of the chairs. Only the bath and bed linen was clean and fresh, and the toilet paper replaced or refreshed. This means at least one staff member had been in the room and ensuite between the previous guest and me. Meaning - they had the opportunity to clean but didn't and hadn't for a long time. Its staff-less, self check in and out nature also felt unsafe for a solo female traveller. One star because I can't give zero.
What a great stay at the Three Cranes Hotel. Luke and the team couldn’t have done more to make it a really enjoyable visit. The rooms were lovely – I had a separate kitchen/living room space, the service was excellent and they have a fantastic bar downstairs. An amazing old building with loads of character but wonderfully renovated, bed was super comfy too. Incredible location – right next to the city centre. Highly recommended, looking forward to visiting again next time I’m in Sheffield!! Thanks for looking after me so well.
The hotel was just lovely! Beautifully decorated in a kind of industrial art decor styling, with every attention to detail in facilities and provision. The staff cannot help you enough and throughout your stay you feel you are a valued customer with every effort made to make your stay the best experience. We loved it here and would definitely stay again. It would be brilliant if you were staying for a little while with fridge, hob, oven and kettle in the rooms we were in allowing for you not to have to always eat out if having a longer stay. The breakfast was delicious, again with lots of attention to details. Absolutely worth this 5 star rating!
Just stopped for quick drink because I was too early for an appointment. Quiet but the barman was friendly. Not over-priced like many hotel bars!
Lovely personal touches in the room that made our experience fantastic. You can tell that the staff care about their hotel and their guests, proving 10/10 customer service and the cleanest, loveliest rooms. The bed was incredibly comfy!! Hotel bar is gorgeous but we didn’t get to try food unfortunately. However, the menu choice and prices looked excellent. Thanks so much for making us feel comfortable! For such a cheap room, we certainly got our money’s worth. Will return should we find ourselves in Sheffield again.
Great apartment hotel. The bar staff were excellent. So friendly and welcoming. The decor is quirky industrial. Great taste by the designer. The best attribute was that the management went over and above to fund us a room on new year's eve after I had accidentally booked for the wrong year. I really am a dizzy blonde. We will certainly be visiting again when we are in Sheffield. Good location and spot lessly clean.
