After a recent visit to listen to The Planets. In which we had seats at the very top of the concert hall.nnI can say the acoustics aren't brilliant, but good enough to actually hear solo pieces, even better if you can get lucky and have few coughs. It seemed any time a person in the hall coughed by the time it reached our seats it had been doubled or tripled in volume!nnNot a very large stage so the choir had to be offstage. Which actually gave the Neptune closing a hauntingly beautiful ethereal feeling. It set the hairs down the back of my neck on edge not seeing them.nnBecause of this a free to attend after hours event was run. Where the choir performed for 40 mins. This would have been lovely to attend, but without advanced notice it was happening alternate plans had been made for the evening.nnThe seating is extremely sheer, and the photo just does not do justice to how vertical it felt sitting there. It felt as if there was at least a 2ft drop between rows and the walkway to get to your seats was very very narrow. Thankfully we had row end seats. As someone who does not do heights at all I shall ensure any future visits, not in the stalls, are row ends for this very reason! And that I don't look down till after the music starts and the lights dim.
I recently attended the Extreme Magic performance at the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. While I've read mixed reviews about the seating and acoustics, I found the fauteuils to be quite comfortable, allowing me to fully enjoy the show. The historical charm of the building adds an extra layer of magic to the evening. Overall, I believe it's definitely worth a visit for anyone seeking a unique and entertaining night out!
Been to both theatres 2 sundays in a row. Seats are incredibly tight and claustrophobic - couldn't stay in the seats we had in the middle without having a panic attack, had to move to an empty isle seat, avoid these theatres if you have any issues with confined spaces. Not allowed to bring in your own food or drink, £2.50 for a bottle of water.
Great seats in the dress circle. Nice ice cream at the interval. Tram stop is right outside, so very convenient. A great night.
Excellent theatre, great view of all acts and productions, great access to public transport and parking.
