I recently took a tour at the City of Caves, and it was a fantastic experience! The informative guide truly enhanced the visit, providing fascinating insights about the history and significance of the caves. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in exploring Nottingham's unique underground attractions!
This was a very enjoyable experience about these fascinating caves. Natasha, who was our guide, was very entertaining. Overall, it was informative and gave an interesting insight into the history of the caves. Definitely requires sensible shoes. We bought a combination ticket at the National Justice Museum, and by the time we arrived for our tour, they had sold out tickets. We were glad to have booked our slot in advance.
We did not know what to expect, and it definitely blew our minds. We parked at a bus station car park, and it was a very short walk to get to the caves. Easy to find. Staff were very friendly and helpful, tickets cost us 17.50 for two people on a weekday. The young lady explained the rules and helped to get the audio set up. It is audio tour, approx 40 min.nThe caves are quite big and there is so much to see. It was a circular walk. Crazy to think that all of this is hidden under the city. Definitely recommend visiting. And it is good value for money. Hopefully will be back at some point in a future.
These are fascinating caves dug out of the sandstone under the centre of Nottingham about 1000 years ago. The guided tour is very well done and makes the history come alive. The underground tannery, found during building works in the 1970s, is particularly interesting. There are a lot of steps, low ceilings and dark passages in the caves so you need to be reasonably fit but children should love it. The tour lasts about 45 minutes and there are no toilets.
great tourist sport if you’re interested in history! the guided tours were very informative and interesting, with some humorous elements! the tour is a bit short but worth it if you’re interested in Nottingham history, or English history in general! definitely book ahead, as many people were turned away due to booked out tours!
