We did not know what to expect, and it definitely blew our minds. We parked at a bus station car park, and it was a very short walk to get to the caves. Easy to find. Staff were very friendly and helpful, tickets cost us 17.50 for two people on a weekday. The young lady explained the rules and helped to get the audio set up. It is audio tour, approx 40 min.nThe caves are quite big and there is so much to see. It was a circular walk. Crazy to think that all of this is hidden under the city. Definitely recommend visiting. And it is good value for money. Hopefully will be back at some point in a future.
Good place to find our some history and have a wander around some caves in a city centre, not many places can offer that.nPretty well thought out as there is an audio guide that you listen on your phone to and the qr code is dotted around almost exactly in the place I lost it as I closed the window it was on.nIf you do, get the combined ticket with the justice museum as it saves you a bit of money, and both are great to go to.
Brilliant. Why on earth haven't we been here before now !! On our doorstep !! So, an easy tram ride in. A walk to The Contemporary and steps down the side of the building, towards a little skate park. Caves entrance on the right. £7 entry - worth every penny. There's steps down, and uneven floors, but nothing excessive. Really interesting to hear the various uses of these caves and tunnels, either via headphones or an app on your phone. Takes about 45 mins - an hour. These caves have been in use for hundreds of years, last used for housing in the 1920s. There's also a little gift shop, video to watch but no toilets on site - suggested nearest are at The Galleries of Justice, minutes away. Great visit on a rainy day. It's suggested that you book a time slot, especially at peak holiday times.
Exploring the City of Caves was an incredible journey into Nottingham's underground history! The tour guides were knowledgeable, and the caves themselves were fascinating. Just remember to book in advance to secure your spot. However, the limited availability for walk-ins was a slight inconvenience. Overall, a unique and educational experience that's definitely worth a visit.
The difficulty we had trying to locate the City of Caves poor signage around the city and even locals weren’t sure! was offset by the welcoming staff.nLuckily we didn’t wait long for bright and breezy Natasha to take us below and tell the fascinating history of these caves. A revelation indeed and presented with flair and fun. Well worth the entrance fee too.
