A pricey lunch but the food was sooo good! Went Saturday lunchtime and it was quiet. Need more staff still as service was stretched thin.
A decent chain pub, good selection of beers, okay menu but quality is far below the high end prices. At this particular Hall & Woodhouse pub the outside seating is fantastic, a really great place to relax with a drink. Inside is spacious and must say the toilets were the cleanest and nieces I've seen in a pub. However what let's this chain down is the food, here we had BLTs which were average and nowhere near worth the £7 they change for them. So lovely venue, definitely worth stopping for a summer drink but the food offering is maybe diverging you'll have to think about.
Been a while since we have been here. Its changed hands since last visit. Overall the food was good. Was extremely disappointed in portion size. We ordered two adult meals and two kids meals. The kids meals were bigger than the adult meals and cost half the price. It's little things like the size of the burger and amount of chips on the side. For the amount paid I would 100% expect a full sized burger and a decent amount of chips. The other half had an open sandwich, her reaction to the meal was "meh". I would recommend going for the kids meal as a main, fish and chips option was great! Kids ate almost all of it, enough leftover chips to stop me grumbling. Staff were over stressed, the one guy at the bar was pretty slow and there needed to be two or three at the time. Other staff wandered by but none came to help out. Ended up having to stand there for 20 minutes just to get the kids icecreams sent over as there were no waiters coming to tables outside. I can't see us coming here again unless the portion size gets sorted but it seems that almost all pubs are doing this at the moment and as someone who doesn't do meals out very often this was overall disappointing.
Love this place, excellent food and setting. Staff are always friendly. I highly recommend the flat iron steak with frites, the baked camembert, and the home made scotch egg. Plus everything else.
Had a lovely lunch today, the whitebait starter was great and so much of it too.The fish and chips was nice. Great friendly bar staff/ waitresses.
We went for a Sunday dinner on the 24th April. It was our first outing with our new dog so we were a bit nervous. No need to be as the staff were fantastic. They were more than happy to have friendly dogs in the pub. We had a drink in the massive garden first to enjoy the last hour of sunshine. The lake next door along with loads of wildlife made for a lovely setting. Inside we sat on the benches and ordered a roast each. Its really hard to find a pub or restaurant that makes a good roast but they have cracked it here. Even near the end of the day it was lovely. I loved the unlimited yorkies and gravy. The prices are good as well. I've attached a photo of the menus. The staff were very kind and has a pot of dog biscuits to make a fuss of the furry customers. Service was brilliant. The pub has lots of old ornaments and kitchen tools everywhere and some very nice and interesting old enamel adverts. If your passing on the a27 then have a look here as I am sure you won't be dissappointed. Thanks guys.
Fantastic as always! Charlotte welcomed us in without reservation and managed to seat us perfectly Brad was our waiter and he was great, efficient and polite! Thank you The Food - 10/10 as always.
Came here for family lunch. Plenty of parking and convenient to A 27 without knowing it's there! A large pub with plenty of space and well divided into different areas of seating so you can still feel private. Good choice of food and drinks. Meals well prepared, cooked and served. Staff friendly and helpful. Well done
Lovely atmosphere, great service, food all served hot but only negative was paying £26 for a pretty small average size steak that wasn’t anything special - which I would have expected it to be at that price. Especial last week I had just as good a steak with better sides included for £10 less. That said the other dishes were lovely.
Have been a few times. Always great food, and super service. Went there for lunch on Thursday 3rd November and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. It was quite quiet. The pub is very modern & clean and is in a lovely location with easy parking. Will definitely be going back again soon.
