Nice little old pub situated not far from the Tilbury ferry terminal, which is about 10 minutes walk from there. Very old historical pub with lots of references to the past in the many interesting pictures around the inside on the walls. A good selection of beer and wine on offer and a basic pub menu with very reasonable prices and very friendly staff ready to help you. The pub is not far from the Fort up the road, and you can park your car in the pub carpark and walk from there to it. We had a lovely fish and chips to enjoy before we embarked on the exploration of the Fort.
Nice fresh lunch before going on the cruise. Freshly made fish and chips was yummy Only 10mins walk to cruise terminal.Food: 5/5
Old & quaint little pub, so glad they've not knocked it down & built flats on the land, like they're doing everywhere else! It's got so much history! Didn't eat there, but had a well deserved pint! Service: 5/5
Everything excellent! From the place itself, food and friendly staff!! Made me feel like a real Pirate! ‍‍‍ definitely will be back!Food: 5/5
Dropped in for Saturday lunch after visiting the fort. Standard selection of pub food prepared well and served promptly even though staff were short-handed. Pub allows dogs and children although it would have been better if some of these played outside rather than chasing round and round the tables. Not quite the quiet place to unwind that it had the potential to be but would definitely drop in again to see how it is on another day.
A quait little pub by the water with very simple yet nice interiors and well spaced with a pool table and even a fire place. The staff is great and helpful and a nice place to visit when the weather's also right with an entrance space to the Fort right behind!Food: 4/5
A pub with an incredible history, but with the ferry closing and indifferent owners I doubt it has a future. Food offering was ‘Don’t ask about food, when I have time I will go and look in the freezer and see what there is’. Fifteen minutes later still no idea what food they could offer so I left.
Needs serious renovations undertaken throughout. Drinks selection very average. On the plus side my Guinness was pretty good.Service: 3/5
This is in Tilbury ...so was very wary . But also next to an iconic site in Tilbury Fort - Armada speech and much more . The staff were very friendly and the food was really quite nice with healthy portion sizes ....a real surprise..will return when in the area .
"The public house is rumoured to be visited by the ghost of a highwayman who haunts the rooms of children. "Swift Nick", also known as William John Nevison was from a good family in Yorkshire but chose a life of highway robbery. It's believed that he committed in Kent, used the Tilbury ferry before riding to Chelmsford and then on to York. He was hanged in 1686."
