The dream London pub - My friend and I went here to catch up over a summer drink and a bit of dinner and we were both so impressed! The Woodman has loads of indoor and outdoor seating including a summer marquee and a covered terrace area in their pub garden so it's ideal for summer evenings. Everything from the wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to the incredibly friendly, attentive and polite service and the very tasty food we had the blackened salmon and grilled prawns as well as some super delicious warm flat bread and olives to start made it a 5* experience. It's also really good for groups and the table next to us brought their bikes bicycles and were easily able to park them along the side fence/by the tables. Highly recommended 10/10 we'll definitely be coming back very soon!
Went here for lunch/dinner last evening. The food was gorgeous, which I've come to never expect from pubs, so that was a nice surprise! The plaice kiev was nice and moist, definitely a one to try, and the miso glazed salmon was surprisingly filling, not a rip off at all unlike most places and also not overdone, chips were very nice too. One of my cocktails wasn't mixed properly, which was disappointing, but it didn't dampen the experience at all. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming, didn't come too soon or too late either about the food order, which people usually don't get right, so I found that impressive too. The rooms are nicely lit and there's a pleasant ambience to the place. I'm not a fan of old men pubs and I definitely wouldn't refer to this as one: all ages were present which was a nice change. Not too busy or packed, plenty of seating and lovely decoration. Will definitely be back for more food.
Just writing a review about the ambiance and service as I didn't order any food menu looked enticing though but I have leftovers to work through! Got myself a tasty berry cider on draft on the sweet side and bartender had described it as such when I was picking between two choices. Great music playing in the background, good lighting and superb decor see posted picture. Definitely not a smelly old, cramped pub and definitely not some painfully hip cocktail bar either so it really hits the spot! I would also highly recommend visiting Kenwood House before this and then strolling through Hampstead Heath for a well deserved beverage after ;
Wonderful pub with a large beer garden just outside Highgate tube station. Stopped there for a quick pint and grab before meeting with the rest of our group- ended up staying there till closing time! Food is delicious and beer is cold. Table service is lovely- you don't need to leave your table to get a drink. Green and airy garden. Will definitely be back
Just, OK. Had a family lunch here last week. General vibe is lovely with a rustic feel. Real wood burning fire inside with comfy chairs. Everyone I encountered were both knowledgeable and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food was just average considering the price. When it costs so much, I expect it to get high marks. Maybe 7 or 8 out of 10 but it was probably a 5. The batter was unbelievably thick that you could barely taste fish, just crispy grease. Chips were excellent in comparison. At £17.50 I just expect a bit better quality on the plate. More good news though they have private parking for around 8 to 10 cars directly behind the venue. Overall, it was a pleasant experience let down by my food. As everything else was very nice, I may just have gotten unlucky so maybe worth another try but unfortunately in these time, I don't have another £20 to gamble that it may be better.
Fantastic food , very accommodating staff, great drinks & live music. loads of sitting area as well.
Watched World Cup Final here but had a lovely meal Sunday roast and dessert.
We were a group of 13 people and went there for drinks without reservation. We were alloted a table after about 15 minutes of wait. We settled in the table and it took us around 10 minutes because the staff said they cannot join tables. Anyways after we settled and started ordering for our drinks the same person came and said that the table was reserved and we have to find another table . This annoyed all of us in the group and decided to go to another place. If I go there some another time will review about their food and drinks.
We have had a great Sunday lunch yesterday. Staff was welcoming as much as they can be during super busy service. Roasts were well portioned and filling for the price. Piping hot food warmed us up with some nice mulled wine.
The Woodman has pretty much everything you want in a great pub…. Fantastic food… we had the oysters and shepherds pie…. Leaving us particularly amorous for cocktails!!! Everything was really delicious, staff are incredibly friendly and it’s just pretty perfect…
