My friend and I really loved this place. The atmosphere and food was great, as an American, even the portion was big. The fish was lovely and chips were also delicious, and let me tell you I love chips/fries with a passion. Would highly recommend. And Alex was very nice and helpful when we asked to split the check, didn't seem to judge as I'm beginning to see that splitting checks probably isn't normal in London?? Great and fast service!
Was surprised by how big this place is. I can’t imagine you never being able to get a table, even at the most busiest times. The food was what you expect from a pub, nothing out of the ordinary. For reference, the beef burger was £13.99. The pub has some good isolated spaces if you want your own quiet place. We really appreciated that there was a bar upstairs and downstairs. Food came quickly but wasn’t very hot. Overall a good pub to go to if you want a cozy chat or a view of the Thames. The views are very pretty at night!!
Nice pub and very spacious. Nice decor, too. The only negative thing I have to report is the toilets. You press the water in the wash base, only for it to stop running in seconds, then you need to press it again and again until you complete washing your hands. As far as I know, this is not a healthy way of washing your hands because by keep pressing for water, there is contamination of bacteria. It needs to be addressed by the management.
Popped in for a quick lunch while walking along the riverside. Food was amazing, very welcoming atmosphere. Bar staff also polite and friendly. Venue is busy during the weekend hence it may take some time to find a table. Like the atmosphere and the floor layout where one can find a cosy corner on the upper level, or just join the crowd in larger setting. Would definitely recommend.
A beautiful pub right by the Thames and near Borough Market. If you're outside, you'll have River views; inside is the most beautiful pub from 1615. Exposed beams, a good collection of drinks, with a decent food menu, not overbearing.
First time in an Anchor restaurant and you have to go. Amazing food service. Some foods and drinks tasted melted in other mouths. From the starter to the dessert the quality and tastes of everything were outstanding, fish and chips, Pizza and sticky toffee might have been the best meal I had while in London bridge area. Highly recommend!
The location is beautiful, very vintage and tourist. The service is quick at the bar but horrible at the tables. When we arrived, it was early, and we just ordered to drink; lunchtime was approaching, and the place got busier. The smell of the food was delicious, so we decided to order something. We waited for more than 40 min for a sandwich and some chicken. The portions were tiny, and I couldn’t enjoy the food because we had the museum booked, so we quickly shovelled the food and ran. It looked and felt promising, but probably the table number is too big compared to the capacity of the service and the kitchen. The toilets were clean and we paid circa 30£ for the food.
I do not recommend. I ordered drinks and waited 25 minutes before asking the bar. They decided on sarcastically correcting me, telling me it had only been 5 minutes. That seemed a strange hill to die on, considering there was a time stamp on my order. Literally direct evidence? Like, I ordered drinks at 1:56 and then asked them if they were still coming at 2:20. Maybe math isn’t his strong suit. To be fair he seemed really busy, the entire pub seemed understaffed The food was not very good. Steak and ale pie mainly was gravy with a few morsels of meat. I’ll post a picture of the “pigs in a blanket,” not sure how someone looked at that and thought to themselves, “yeah, this is okay to send out” that dish looked like a cruel joke, to be frank. My brother got a burger that appeared to be cooked in what I can imagine as the fiery depths of hell - it was a dry, charred crisp of what was once in another life a patty. Great location and atmosphere, though!
Great spot by the River Thames to stop, grab a bite of food and drink on a sunny day out in London. We were pleasantly surprised by the fish and chips, excellent portion and perfectly cooked. The pizza was ok, but this is a great spot to have a few drinks and take in the glorious view by the river.
We really enjoyed this pub. Went around 4pm so didnt need to book a seat. Our group had the steak and ale pie as well as fish and chips. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for large portions. The atmosphere was very festive for Christmas. The pub was large but still had a cozy feel.
