Sticky table (my sleeves stuck to it!) , food menu genuinely stuck to my hands when I picked it up. Food was pretty poor, burger burnt and chips like little bags of grease. Even the knife and fork had dried on bean juice on them. Toilets not nice either - even though there was a guy checking them who seemed to think they were fine. Probably fine if you just want a drink but avoid for the rest.

Called in Friday for fish and chips. Not too busy. Service was good. 20 min wait for food. Was very cold in there. One couple complained and then more people complained. Soon after it got warmer. So well done for quick action. Fish and chips very good.

Great place. It's a Wetherspoons, cheap and cheerful. Friendly staff and standards have vastly improved recently: new manager... Would reccomend as a starting venue before hitting the town on a session or stay put for a good selection of spirits at great prices. Top job.

It was OK. I had ribs, which were hot and we'll cooked with enough sauce. Chips were lovely, but the plate was a bit bland. Maybe a bit of salad just to dress it up. The pub itself was tired and grubby. Certainly didn't add to the quaintness of Oswestry on a wet March Monday, and more could be made of Wilfred Owen himself than one panel hidden behind the slot machine. The whole visit was spoiled by the bearded barman. As I was driving I ordered a tomato juice. He looked at me as if I was an alien, shuffled around and eventually found one. I asked for some Worcester sauce, same incredible expression, and was told "we don't have it" when I asked why he said, " it's not my fault I don't make the decisions around here". I asked a waitress, quietly, if they had some in the kitchen. She never came back to see us. Then the same barman went outside thru the fire door and either he or his friend had a fag, left the door open, and the smell wafted in to where we were eating. Sorry, but not good enough.
